Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone (Ernest Cunningham, #1) by Benjamin Stevenson

Please discuss here and remember to use spoiler tags as needed, as everyone reads at different speeds and may start at different times.

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate.

I'm Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I'd killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it's a little more complicated than that.

Have I killed someone? Yes. I have.

Who was it?

Let's get started.

EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY HAS KILLED SOMEONE

My brother

My stepsister

My wife

My father

My mother

My sister-in-law

My uncle

My stepfather

My aunt

Me

Corina | 2768 comments Read this one last month and though I wasn't too sure what to expect and going into it, I thought it won't be my thing, I ended up really enjoying it. I do think that the style in which the story is told may not be to everyone's taste. Looking forward to picking the second book as well. :)

Panda | 14 comments I also have this book on hold. I am concerned that it may be a bit before I am able to read it, however, even if I miss the month I will do my best to remember to come back and let you all know what I think. It looks interesting and wouldn't have been on my radar had I not seen it here for thank you for adding it to my list!

Jana | 2 comments The first quarter was excellent. Then, it slowly lost me. It was ok but nothing to write home about. I was entertained, but there was room for a lot more.

Carol (fleter) | 305 comments I’m right at 30% in now and still very hooked - wish I could just sit and read all day - but Jana, starting to maybe see your comment …. Starting to wonder a bit where this one will go.

Carol (fleter) | 305 comments 3.5 stars and a great ride! Loved the first third of the book - wished I could clear my calendar to keep reading. I struggled a bit going forward from there - so many characters, trying to keep everything straight…but a very clever book in the vein of some of the British series I’ve been reading/following. Entertaining, need to suspend disbelief but that’s also just required in stories like this. Nicely brought together at the end - I envisioned an old black and white movie where the “whodunit” is being explained in a room of suspects - which I also suspect is what the author may have been going for. I will continue reading on in the series!

message 11: by Ali (new)

Ali Smith I’m not going to lie, I couldn’t finish this one. It felt like reading a list if that makes sense. I really wanted to like it because I love sarcastic voices, breaking the 4th wall, and murder but for whatever reason, this one just didn’t do it for me. I got to 28%.
