Really enjoying this book. Has got a "just one more chapter (five more times)" rating so far.
Such an easy read to get into without being too simple. The Science/tech stuff is really easy to understand. And the story line even with it's mystery and conspiracies is easy to follow. I think the fact that it is set in our solar system really helps.
For me the first big box that needs to be ticked in any space opera is a cool ship or ships. And this is definitely take care of here. I always love when a writer can make the space craft feel like a character in the book. It feels like we get to start the journey with the Rocinante as this new flash wizabang craft and every battle and journey she takes adds more and more character as we go along.
Enjoying the characters also and feel they are well written. The two prospective's works well and loving the dynamics of the crew. Love the contrast between Holden and Miller. Wonder as the series goes on if we will start to see some more prospective's added in?
Anyway hope people are enjoying this as much as me :)
I'm certainly enjoying this as much as you so far Dale. It's certainly been a rollercoaster of a ride for me as well and I too have been flying *forgive the pun* through it! It's very clear and easy as you noted, but equally there's a sense of fun and life when reading it. It feels easy to get into and certainly very action packed.
I think the only thing so far bugging me is the *imaginary* Julie which just doesn't really sit too well with me... A bit too far fetched alongside all the believable and cool space stuff, but maybe that's just me :)
As for the two perspectives I also think that they work very well and the contrasts definitely make it all that more 'real' and believable as they're from different walks of life entirely!
So far so good. I hope I can finish it up today! :D
