For this challenge, do as many of the "leap" tasks listed below as you can. For added fun, you can spell out the name of your favorite leapling, using author's first or last initial, or the first letter of the first word of the title (using or omitting A, An and The as you wish).
Books should be 140 pages minimum. Rereads allowed.
This annual challenge was posted a bit late, so feel free to use any books completed in January ...OR do a modified year from February 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025. Your choice!
1. Read a book with a calendar on the cover.
2. Read a book with 4 and 6 in the page count.
3. Read a book with the letters LEAP in the title.
4. Read a book where a character has a very slim chance of accomplishing something.
5. Read a book where the MC is part of a large club - preferably international but could be national.
6. Read a book published in February.
7. Read a book with the numbers 1461 in the publication date (could be April 1, 1961, June 1, 2014, etc.)
8. Read a book where the MC suddenly has extra time on their hands.
9. Read a book where a character trains for or participates in the Olympics (it's okay if they have aspirations but never make it).

Some fun facts about Leap Years:
1. Without leap day, our calendar would be off by about 24 days every 100 years!
2. The first leap year was introduced in 46 BCE by Julius Caesar of Rome.
3. People born on a Leap Day are sometimes called leaplings.
4. About 5 million people around the world are leaplings.
5. On non-leap years, some leaplings choose to celebrate their birthdays a day early on February 28, while others choose to celebrate a day later on March 1.
6. There is an international club for leaplings! The Honor Society of Leap Year Babies has over 10,000 members worldwide.
7. Some cultures that use a lunar calendar (based on the moon’s movement) add a whole leap month every three years.
8. The Summer Olympic Games are held every four years on leap years.
9. There are 525,600 minutes in a typical calendar year. On leap years, there are 527,040 minutes. What will you do with the extra 1,440 minutes this leap year?
10. There is a 1 in 1,461 chance of being born on a Leap Day.
11. There are only 187,000 leaplings in the U.S.
12. Leap Day is often associated with marriage, proposals and flipping gender roles. Tradition holds that in 5th-century Ireland, St. Bridget lamented to St. Patrick that women were not allowed to propose marriage to men. So St. Patrick designated February 29 as a day on which women would be allowed to propose to men. In some places, Leap Day thus became known as Bachelor's Day.
13. This tradition hopped the Irish Sea to Scotland and England, where the British added a twist—if a man rejected a woman's proposal, he owed her a debt of several pairs of fine gloves, perhaps to hide the fact that she did not have an engagement ring.
14. In Greek tradition, however, it is considered bad luck to marry on Leap Day. Statistics suggest that Greek couples continue to take this superstition seriously.
