Sallys | 694 comments Once Upon a River is a beautiful novel about a river and the twists and turns in life. It is engrossing and well written and the charachers are
complex and multi faceted. They show resilience and hope.in the face of loss. . The novel has a magical quality without being a true fantasy.
It spans a year and comes full circle with a satisfying ending.I wou;d recommend it to others and rate it a 4.25.

Jgrace | 3940 comments I loved it too. It seems so different from The Thirteenth Tale (which was also wonderful), but both books used an elaborate story to say something about storytelling. It makes me wonder about Bellman & Black. No one seems to like that one very much.
