February 10, 2024 is the first day of the 2024 lunar calendar, which means it also marks the beginning of Chinese New Year for 2024. This year is the year of the Dragon. Dragons are fifth in the 12-animal Chinese zodiac cycle, with each animal cycling through five elements (gold, wood, water, fire, and earth). This year is the year of the wood dragon, which won't appear again for 60 more years. The dragon is unique because it is the only mythical creature of all the animals in the Chinese zodiac and more babies are born during dragon years than any other animal.
According to Chinese superstition, each year takes on the traits of that year’s animal. People born in the year of the dragon are believed to be strong, energetic, outspoken, charismatic, intelligent, confident, powerful, gifted, and naturally lucky. The wood element tempers the dragon's natural "fire" buy adding additional traits such as : extreme creativity, inquisitiveness, open mindedness, and acceptance of new and different ideas.
From the following list, read one book from three different options.
1. Read a book with all the letters of D*R*A*G*O*N in the title/subtitle/series name
2. Read a book whose author's initials are in the word DRAGON. If the author uses three names, all three initials must be present.
3. Read a book published in any year of the dragon.
1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024
(subtract 12 to get years before 1940)
4. Read a book with a 6 & 0 OR a 1 & 2 in the page count.
Example 306 but not 361, 412 but not 261 etc.
5. Read a book that can be connected to China in some way.
Example: set in China, or an author of Chinese heritage.
6. Dragons are mythological beasts. Read a book that has a MPG of fantasy or mythology.
7. Read a book that is #5 in a series.
8. Read a book that has one of the Chinese zodiac animals either on the cover OR in the title.
Bonus point if the animal is a dragon.
Ex: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig.
