NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11084 comments Ahh, This gave me my first book high of the year. I know this book isn't for everyone. It's strange and poetic, and it engages all the senses, so it might be too much to take in at first. But it's short, so it's worth a try. I was craving a reread of this book for a long time, especially after seeing other reviews and comments recently. I really wanted to hear the luscious language again. After four years I couldn't quite remember how the book ends, so I enjoyed the suspense even more. I picked up many new details about the story, and I felt more connected to the two main characters. This time around, the story had more emotional power for me. It satisfied both my head and my heart. It's really good on audio too.

I noticed from the cover that Amal El-Mohtar wrote the character Blue, the warrior from Garden, who is more poetic and organic. Max Gladstone wrote Red, who works for the Agency, and is more technological. This knowledge helped me to differentiate the characters and it reinforced my desire to read more by both of these authors.
