LibraryCin | 11681 comments Whew! I haven't done that much shelving in a while!

In January, we collectively read 190 individual titles. Of course, there is always overlap. There were 240(!!!) topics posted in the folder, but one was the announcement.

WOW! This is the most number read since April 2016 when the tag was "Female Author" (we read 219 for that one). That makes this the 2nd highest number we've read in one month since we moved to GR!

You might notice at least one (Historical Fiction) that has more on the bookshelf (205), but that's combined from two separate months. I imagine there are others where this is the case, as well.

(I post all the stats in this thread here, immediately after I do the shelving:

Interesting, the bookshelf also tells me 225 for "Female author", but since anyone can add to the bookshelf, that may also be people adding the odd one later.

Theresa | 15520 comments I'm not surprised. With 2 tag-match annual challenges, you are likely to see records broken all year long.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11067 comments Wow that’s incredible. Can you imagine how female author would do this year? The letters aren’t great for bwf, but we could find books for any steeplechase tag.

I think authors of color is going to be huge too. We’re halfway through the month, and there are already 144 posts!

I can’t wait to see the choices for March.

I was wondering about that, too!

LibraryCin | 11681 comments Oh! I have a request....

I also shelve the books in the "Other Books" folder if they match the annual challenges. I suspect many of these are still missed, however. It was only about half way through last year I noticed some people put the indicator at the end of the title of the thread instead of the beginning.

It's easier (and much faster) for me to notice if the indicator (like "[BWF]" or "[Steeplechase]") is at the beginning of the thread title.

I'm sure I've missed many that have it at the end. Who knows? I've probably missed a few at the beginning, too. I guess if a bunch are missed, oh well. The more important for shelving are the monthly tags ones, anyway.

Just thought I'd mention it if anyone is ok with moving those indicators to the front. If not, so be it! Thank you!

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12569 comments I have been throwing the indicator at the back Cindy, and will try to remember that you would like it in front.

I use to shelve my own books and will try to get back to doing that to help you out in my own small way. Thanks for what you do, much appreciated!

Aw, thanks so much!

It's more in the "other books" folder that I miss these, since I'm more likely to just skim looking for those indicators. In the monthly tag folders, I am shelving them all, anyway, so I'm more likely to notice if it's at the end.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11067 comments I used to put them at the beginning too but they seemed to distract from the titles in the Monthly tag folder this year.

I’ll try to remember to move them to the front when I put a book in the Others folder.

I noticed some bwf-extra labels. I’m not sure if or when to use that. What do you prefer?

It's up to you. If you want those shelved, I am shelving those, as well.

And thank you. I realized later that some might be putting them at the end so it's easier to read the titles. I guess I'm used to skimming, so when I am NOT shelving, I've also gotten used to looking beyond that.

Of course, that's just me. If people don't want to put them at the start, it's ok. They just might not make it to the bookshelf! :-)
