The St. Patrick's Day Challenge - March 2024

This challenge is all about St. Patrick’s Day, a holiday which involves celebration of Irish culture, with parades, dancing and a whole lot of green. For this challenge, simply read and review books as normal, but if you would like to earn some bonus points, then simply tell us if your book fits any of the following descriptions:

- Make it Irish: Read any book with an Irish edition.
- STRIPED: Read a book with something green, white or orange on the cover, following the colors of the Irish flag (you can check this at https://labs.tineye.com/color/).
- Gimme that LUCK: Read a book with the letters ‘L’ ‘U’ ‘C’ ‘K’ in the title/series name/author’s name.
- Cillian Murphy, is that you?: Read a book that features an Irish character.
- Welcome to Ireland: Read a book that is set in Ireland.
- Clever clovers: Since a lucky clover has four leaves, read a book that is fourth in a series, that has a four in the rating or has the letters ‘F’ ‘O’ ‘U’ ‘R’ in the title/series name/author’s name.
- Follow the rainbow: Read a book with an LGBTQ+ character or a rainbow on the cover.
- The 17th: Read a book that has a 1 or 7 in the rating (for example: rated 3.75 stars on Goodreads).
- MARCH: Read any book with an edition published in March (any year).
- LUCKY CHANCE: Read a book that is not yet published.
- Cheers!: Buddy read any book in this group (see https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... to find a buddy read).
- 21+: No drinking unless you’re an adult! Read any book tagged ‘adult’ (must be tagged at least twice).
- Saint: Read a book that features religion or saints (must be tagged at least twice).
- Better together: Read any book that’s part of a series.
- Feast: Read a book with the letters ‘F’ ‘E’ ‘A’ ‘S’ ‘T’ anywhere in the title, series name or author’s name.
- Leprechaun: Read a book that features a character with a (big) beard.
- Parade: Read a book with two or more people on the cover.
- Shamrocks: Read a book with at least three alternative editions (can be in another language).
Extra notes –
* For tags, books must be tagged at least twice.
* Each description can be used as many times as you like.
* You will only receive one lot of bonus points, even if your book fits multiple descriptions.
* You may use different editions with different titles, but they must be made up of English letters (accents are okay).
* You may use a different edition for bonus points, than for pages.
* Letters in titles/series name/author’s name do not need to be in order.

★ YA/Adult Books (without illustrations) - *1 point per 50 pages*
(view spoiler)
(Maximum of 12 points per book)
★ Middle-grade/children's books (without illustrations) - *1 point per 75 pages*
(view spoiler)
(maximum of 8 points per book)
★ Graphic novels/manga/poetry/plays/books written in verse/books which have some illustrations - *1 point per 150 pages*
(view spoiler)
(maximum of 4 points per book)
★ Buddy reads MATCH your points score for pages, so a 300-page book (6pts) + buddy read (6pts) = 12 points.
(view spoiler)
(Bonus points for buddy reads will only be given if the buddy read has taken place in this group.)
★ If books are long enough to count on their own (50/75/150 pages) they will be scored on their own.

★ Individual bonus points will be awarded based on page count, the same as page points and buddy read points. So if you read a 300-page book that also matches a description, you will receive 6 page points and 6 bonus points ☺

Hermione bonus points can be earned on books over 600 pages long, because Hermione loves a big book, and we love Hermione ❤️
Over 600 pages unillustrated book = 12 points
Over 600 pages unillustrated childrens/middle-grade book = 8 points
Over 600 pages illustrated/poetry etc. = 4 points
★ Mods will keep track of each team's points, using the following system -
Team Name:
__________|_Books_|_Buddy_|__Page___|_Bonus_|_Hermi_|__Total
__________|_Read__|_Reads_|__Points_|_Points|_Points|
Name______|___0___|___0___|_____0___|___0___|___0___|_____0

Name______|___0___|___0___|_____0___|___0___|___0___|_____0
Team______|___0___|___0___|_____0___|___0___|___0___|_____0
* Please note - we will be tracking how many books you have read, but you will not receive points for this column. You will receive a '1' for each book posted which reaches the minimum page count for that type of book["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
