Our reading of Master Humphrey's Clock as a group focused only on the shorter version, not including the complete novels that were originally part of the text: The Old Curiosity Shop and Barnaby Rudge.

It was suggested that we have a place where we can come back to share thoughts on these two novels, since Master Humphrey encouraged some of us to read on to these two also.

Anyone who wants to share plans or thoughts about these novels is welcome to post here, now or later. It will be fun to see how they compare to the frame story of Master Humphrey.

Sue | 255 comments I definitely want to read both books but won’t be able to begin probably until the summer. Not sure which one I will read first. The Old Curiosity Shop is a title that really appeals to me but I really know nothing about Barnaby Rudge. If anyone else plans to read one of these in , perhaps, July, and would like to try a buddy read, let me know.

Ginny (burmisgal) | 73 comments Thanks for this. I will definitely be checking back. Thinking about starting with curiosity shop.

I read The Old Curiosity Shop a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. It's not my favorite Dickens, but has some very memorable characters.

I would like to read Barnaby Rudge, possibly later in the year, and will be curious if anyone else is interested in that one.

Fergus, Weaver of Autistic Webs | 104 comments Not me, so count me in (depending on my reading speed)! I picked up Curiosity during this discussion and will add Barnaby (I seem to remember it is at least partially based on some little-known anti-Papist riot in London, so being Catholic, would like to follow up!)
