Jeannie McBride comes clean to Sam about their findings in the Fitzgerald cold case. Sam suspends both Jeannie and Will Tyrone and confronts Skip. Turns out Alice Fitzgerald is the former widow of his partner and Cameron accidentally killed his brother. He told them immediately and showed them where his brother’s body was located. Sam and Skip agreed to let it be. His decision also fractured his relationship with Sam’s mother. Sam rescinded the suspension. And! Jeannie and Michael get engaged.
Victoria’s real name was Valerie Taft. Her father, George, once worked as Arnie Patterson’s second in command. He and wife Barbara were killed in a house fire 12 years ago after he abruptly quit. Police suspected arson and Patterson took Victoria in. George had discovered that Patterson Financial was nothing more than a big Ponzi scheme, which is why they killed him. George’s attorney shared this with Valerie who later confronted Arnie. The attorney was killed along with all the evidence. Valerie was pretty much a prisoner and forced to get into a relationship with Derek with the express purpose of infiltrating the Nelson administration. Valerie/Victoria left a letter with an attorney outlining everything, which was delivered to Derek following her death. She made it clear her love for him was genuine.
