How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix

How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix

Grady Hendrix takes on the haunted house in a thrilling new novel that explores the way your past—and your family—can haunt you like nothing else.

When Louise finds out her parents have died, she dreads going home. She doesn’t want to leave her daughter with her ex and fly to Charleston. She doesn’t want to deal with her family home, stuffed to the rafters with the remnants of her father’s academic career and her mother’s lifelong obsession with puppets and dolls. She doesn’t want to learn how to live without the two people who knew and loved her best in the world.

Most of all, she doesn’t want to deal with her brother, Mark, who never left their hometown, gets fired from one job after another, and resents her success. Unfortunately, she’ll need his help to get the house ready for sale because it’ll take more than some new paint on the walls and clearing out a lifetime of memories to get this place on the market.

But some houses don’t want to be sold, and their home has other plans for both of them…

Cammy | 158 comments This was such a fun book about the relationship between siblings and the secrets that family hide, that eventually comes to light. A good mix of horror, mystery and family drama.

I don't know if I can bring myself to read this one. I read The Final Girl Support Group by this author and could not even finish it. I did not like it at all. I have The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires on my maybe list, but it's been there forever because I started with Final Girl. It seems to have completely turned me off this author. I do feel like I should give him another try and this one sounds interesting, but then again so did Final Girl...

Nicole Wilkinson | 2 comments Honestly I'm starting to think I'm not a Grady Hendrix fan. I didn't love Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires - it wasn't horrible, but I found it VERY slow. This book was better, but still only a meh for me. For one, I think the title is misleading - this is NOT a book about a haunted house. It was still slow, but not AS slow.

Andrea | 1 comments Im a Grady Hendrix fan, and I loved this book. I like the kooky tone he’s carved out for himself. It’s fun to read when I’m trying not to take everything so seriously.
