NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11060 comments I've read several books about the US internment of Japanese Americans during WWII, including Facing the Mountain: A True Story of Japanese American Heroes in World War II. They Called Us Enemy is probably the best overall description of the entire story, despite it's relatively short length. I am not a fan of graphic novels because of my vision, and this one was difficult to read even online (the software enables magnification but awkward shifts in focus, leading to headaches.) But it was very much worth it. As first I felt like I knew the story already, but by the end I learned a great deal more than I imagined. I saw rave reviews before, but I always got the impression that the book was good "for a graphic novel." I'm very happy that I finally read it.
