Once upon a broken heart is so much better in my opinion. I wanted Caraval to be everything that UOABH was, but it fell flat. It seemed darker and less glittered with sweet escapist magic. I just trudged through it because I was such a fan of Stephanie's other work.
The first book took some time to get into and overal understand properly. But I loved it! If you are new to reading this book would be a good pick.
It is literally so good. I will say the books get better as you move through the series. Also, I recommend reading Once Upon a Broken Heart if you end up liking Caraval.
Yes it gets so much better!!!. I loved the first one but I'm currently reading the second one and it's even better. ;)
Yes! As everyone has already said, stick it out, Caraval is totally worth it. You’ll like Once Upon a Broken Heart if you like Caraval and the other books in the series (Legendary, and Finale)
I'm undecided about it. I read it twice and both times I just felt meh about it and at the same time, I didn't feel the need to put it down.
i read the first one, and found it quite average. I started the second one, but it seems that it's not for me.

I liked the Caraval series! Not quite as much as I'm loving Once Upon a Broken Heart, but I did like it! And while I don't think you need it to enjoy UOABH, I appreciated having some background info on the characters going into that series.
For the OUABH series, I loved all three. I wish I would have waited to read them closer together.
For Caraval, I didn’t love finale. I know it’s the only way to tie in the new series but I didn’t think it had the same vibe.

I read Stephanie Garber's books starting with Caraval (which is what I would recommend to anyone before reading OUABH), and honestly, I just fell in love with the world and the whimsy of it. I think OUABH is more enjoyable when you're going into it with a bit of background knowledge. And when you already have an attachment to some of the characters:) But back to the point, it's totally worth it, because OUABH is literally my favorite series like ever.

I hate to break it to you but no, I finished it and was extremely disappointed with how cheesy it was, but on the other hand it's my best friend's fav. series.
