Catching up on Classics (and lots more!) discussion

As the announcement for the International Booker Prize longlist quickly approaches, I wanted to create a space for my own personal Booker Prize longlist & shortlist challenges. Essentially, I would like to imagine myself as one of the judges on the panel in order to assess how my personal taste in contemporary fiction either aligns with, or diverges from, the committee's decisions.

International Booker Prize 2024 Dates

Longlist: March 11th, 2024
Shortlist: April 9th, 2024
Winner: May 2024

Booker Prize 2024 Dates

Longlist: July, TBA
Shortlist: September, TBA
Winner: November, TBA

During each of these challenges, I plan on reading the entire longlist when they are announced. After I gather my thoughts on each work, I will make predictions on which of the six books I would promote to the shortlist. I will follow the same process to predict the winner from the shortlist. It is highly unlikely I will finish the longlists for each prize by the time the shortlists are announced, but I am determined to step away from the internet and not look at the announcements before I post my predictions here for the shortlists/winners.

If this is as fun as I imagine it to be in my head, I can see this being a yearly challenge for me. :)
