Theresa | 15510 comments Looks like I'm going to take over from Amy being Queen of Buddy Reads this month! Amy - don't worry, your crown is safe. This is not going to be the new normal!

I'm planning to read this in March for Tag and BWF - and I figured there might just be a few others out there who have this on their list for this month. Can I entice any one -- in challenge or not - to a buddy read? I think it would be fun to have a cross-team buddy read of some sort - last month Lyn and I and others seemed to all be reading the same book(s) within days, even minutes of each other. I'd like to think it would add a nice dimension to BWF, make it more inclusive across teams.

I've had this -- a personally autographed hardcover from publication day -- in my TBR Towers for too long. I'd already ID'd it as a possible to read this month for COA for BWF challenge. Then on Friday night I went to the Athena Film Festival at Barnard College and saw a yet to be released outside of film festivals documentary called Uncharted about the difficulties faced by gifted young brown women breaking into the popular music business - whether singers, songwriters, techs, lyricists, and most are all of the above. It was a fantastic documentary and clearly was a message to me to read this. As soon as I got home, I pulled it out of the TBR Towers and added it to the top of the mini-tower for March, LOL.

Here's a link to a description of the documentary: https://aff24.eventive.org/films/unch...

I'll tell you my First Day of Publication story when I've read the book. Probably not for at least a week. I've got book club reading to finish.

KateNZ | 4099 comments Great idea, Theresa!

I found a copy on the library app, so I am in. I still haven’t read ‘The Hate U Give’ (must be about the last person in the universe to read it) but I have high hopes that this one will be good too.

Amy | 12913 comments I read this one about a year or two ago, and I absolutely loved it. I just read the concrete rose by the same author, and Angie Thomas has a way of really moving you, as you read, and as the story unfolds, and as the characters develop.
