Avery Hill is offered a big job as head of the Criminal Investigation Division, which requires him to stay in Washington, DC, which he accepted. Given his struggle with his feelings for Sam, what do you foresee down the road? Do you think he’ll accept Shelby’s “coffee” request? Might he use her as an excuse to stay close to Sam? What say you?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I don't know what to think of this decision. It was a big deal and Avery would be a fool to turn it down. I hope his infatuation with Sam is put to bed and doesn't carry over for too many books. I am sure the Shelby will be used in some way. I don't know what that will be yet.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments I can understand his dilemma. He wants to get away from Sam but this is a huge promotion and will make his career. He has worked hard and deserves it.

I am hopeful that Hill's feelings for Sam will turn out to be a momentary infatuation and that he will come to develop a connection with Shelby.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I will be so livid if Force allows Hill to use Shelby as a poor substitute for Sam.

They made him an offer he couldn’t (and shouldn’t!) refuse. He did the right thing.

Agreed. If they get involved, it must be because he truly falls for her and realizes that his feelings for Sam were never real.
