Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments One of April's Books of the Month will be With Every Breath by Elizabeth Camden!

Goodreads Summary:
n the shadow of the nation's capital, Kate Livingston holds a respectable position as a government statistician when she encounters a rival from her past, the insufferable Trevor McDonough. A Harvard-trained physician, Trevor never showed the tiniest flicker of interest in Kate, and she's bewildered at the way he suddenly seeks her out. Surprising even herself, Kate agrees to Trevor's entirely unexpected and risky proposal to work side-by-side with him in his quest to rid the world of tuberculosis, a contagious and deadly disease.

As Kate begins to unlock the mysteries of Trevor's past, she realizes there is much more to him than she could have imagined. His hidden depths may fascinate her, but his most closely guarded secrets and a shadowy enemy lurking in the background carry a serious threat to their future.

When the truth of the past comes out, threatening to destroy everything they hold dear, how will Trevor and Kate ever overcome all that stands in their way?

Chime in if you think you'll be joining in on the discussion! I'm nearly halfway through and enjoying it.

Cassidy | 5 comments I finished this a couple of days ago & really enjoyed it! The premise reminded me of A City Not Forsaken (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #3) by Lynn Morris , which is the third book in one of my favorite series. It's kind of strange to think that terrible diseases were running rampant not all that long ago... I like that this book helps demonstrate all of the work that had to happen to find the treatments we have now.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1139 comments I absolutely loved this book and am looking forward to the discussion!

Anna | 37 comments Just finished this yesterday...and I started it yesterday too. :) Obviously it kept my interest very well! It had very wonderful characters too. It was a fun and inspiring read!!

Christine | 549 comments I finished this last night and really enjoyed it! The romance was sweet and it was interesting to learn more about the research in finding a cure for tuberculosis! I loved to see the passion both of the main characters have.

Cassidy | 5 comments I really enjoyed the chemistry Kate & Trevor had. Did anyone else find some of Kate's actions a little frustrating though? At one point, Trevor became much more likable to me than Kate was.

Tanx (tanxx) | 28 comments Love this book!
but I thought the book cover is a bit mismatched, I would prefer a medical/hospital backdrop and a spunkier lady to match Kate's competitiveness.

Just nitpicking, don't mind me :) I very much enjoyed learning about tuberculosis,
plus, strong women from the past never fail to inspire me.
5 stars.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1139 comments Yes, I definitely got frustrated with Kate's strong-willed ways. I really enjoyed the medical part and the intrigue behind it.

Heidi (hmarie7) | 12 comments I just bought this book and am going to start it tomorrow! I've read a few of her books before, so pretty excited to read this one!

Susan Vance (sqoosie) | 13 comments I was so disappointed. My book budget is limited for the rest of the month, and my eBook lending library had me put a hold on the book. Hopefully it will be available soon.

Sarah (sarahe35) | 46 comments I'm only a little way in, but I'm enjoying it so far.

Kate frustrated me as well, Cassidy! I was so mad at her for pushing amazing Trevor away. :/

Brandi | 141 comments My review for this awesome book.

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments I'm a little delayed in kicking off the discussion questions! I love April, but boy is it so busy at work. I'm tuckered out. So glad it's Friday!

To start off...

How many of this authors book have you read and do you have a favorite?

Did you like the medical details or was it too much info. for anyone?

Anna | 37 comments This is my first Elizabeth Camden, so I guess this is my favorite. :)

I liked the medical details! It really helped me understand better what Kate and Trevor were fighting against.

Christine | 549 comments I love books by Elizabeth Camden and have read four (including this book) - The Rose of Winslow Street by Elizabeth Camden , The Lady of Bolton Hill by Elizabeth Camden , and Into the Whirlwind by Elizabeth Camden . I have enjoyed them all, but The Rose of Winslow Street is by far my fave! I love the humor and interchange between the two main characters.

I found the medical details and enjoyed learning more about TB and the search for a cure. I found that it was just enough info, without overdoing it.

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments I have read this one, The Rose of Winslow Street and The Lady of Bolton Hill. I enjoyed this one the most of those three, The Rose of Winslow Street the least.

I loved the medical details. It wasn't overdone, but it wasn't vague, which I really appreciated. I love that Camden chooses topics that aren't glamorous, but real and gritty.

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Was anyone surprised to find out that Trevor had the disease as well?

Loraine (librarydiva) | 4439 comments I have read Against the Tide by Elizabeth Camden The Lady of Bolton Hill by Elizabeth Camden and The Rose of Winslow Street by Elizabeth Camden . I loved them all but probably my favorite was The Rose of Winslow Street. Haven't had a chance to read this one but it's on my TBR list.

Heidi (hmarie7) | 12 comments Finally finished this book! I thought it was great!! (I got it on sale at Lifeway a few weeks ago!!!) I have read the Lady of Bolton Hill, but it has been a few years- so I should probably re-read it because I don't remember much about it. I had no idea she had as many books published as she does. I Will definitely be looking up more books by Elizabeth Camden. I thought the medical details were just the right amount; not enough to gross people out, but enough to make them aware of what the disease is/what happens to people when they have it. I was very surprised that Trevor had the disease, but I was more surprised that he had it twice.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1139 comments I loved the details of the book...I always do, in hers. She does such excellent research that it's easy to feel lost in the time period of the story.
The only one of hers I haven't read is "Into the Whirlwind", and it's waiting in my physical TBR stack for one of those really-needy days.
My least favorite is "Lady of Bolton Hill", mostly because parts of it seemed underdeveloped. Quite forgivable in a debut, especially one I got free.
My favorite is her newest, "Beyond All Dreams"; 2nd, "Rose of Winslow Street", 3rd, tie, this one and "Against the Tide".

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments Did you guys happen to notice that this book was nominated for a Christy award? I guess we know how to choose books to read at CFD! ;)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments I saw that! You're right, we just know how to pick them! ;)

Sarah (sarahe35) | 46 comments This is my second Elizabeth Camden book. I've read Lady of Bolton Hill & enjoyed it. Against the Tide is on my TBR list for this year.
I enjoyed the medical details. I thought it was enough to let you know what they were facing without overwhelming you. I was surprised that Trevor had had tuberculosis, especially that he'd had it twice! It did explain his actions though.
I have to admit, I thought the reason he was sent away from Scotland and his father was a little anti-climatic. It seemed like it was this deep dark secret & he was so ashamed of it. But to me it didn't seem that bad. And his father didn't seem to bad either once they started working on their relationship. I do realize though that back in those times to be an illegitimate son/child was a bad thing. Also I did remind myself that he was viewing it from the hurt of a 13(?) year old's point of view. One that had already been through a lot.
