Spring is a time when many people travel for Spring Break or start planning their summer travels. This task is a reader version of travel and has three options. Select one of the options and read three books in that option.
Road Trip: Read three books that take place on the same continent but in different locations on the continent. For example: Europe - set in France, Ireland, and Italy. Books can all be in the same country but must then be in different cities/towns as the point of the task is to travel.
Intercontinental Travel: Read three books with each book being set on a different continent. For this task Russia is considered Asia.
Flights of Fancy: Not everyone likes to travel physically so in this option read three books with each book having a MPG of Fantasy or Science Fiction.

Bookshelf poetry is a fun phenomena where titles read in order make a poem.
Lets stretch our creative muscles and make some bookshelf haikus!
A haiku has 3 lines, the first with 5 syllables, the 2nd with 7 syllables, and the third with 5 syllables.
Read three books, two with a 5 syllable title and 1 with a 7 syllable title, and arrange into a haiku. The haiku MUST have a connecting theme, no random book dumping. Subtitles ARE allowed but MUST fit within the syllable count. If a subtitle is there it MUST be used, otherwise the flow of your poem is ruined trying to visually skim past it. {eg. Terminal Boredom: Stories has 7 syllables and can be used, A Spell in the Wild: A Year (and Six Centuries) of Magic wouldn't work as white the title is 5 syllables, the subtitle makes it 15.}
Your books must have a total of 750+ pages when combined and no kids/graphic novels allowed.
Example:
How Hard Can Love Be?
The Master of Verona
Juliet, Naked
theme: Romeo and Juliet
or
I'm Glad My Mom Died
Take Me With You When You Go
Crying in H Mart
theme: mourning
Required: state the theme.

Route 66 Adventure
Route 66 is a 2,400-mile highway that stretches across America, including the states of Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. It is a road trip that is as popular with travelers from abroad, as with Americans themselves. It was opened in 1926, and decommissioned in 1985. During that time, many families used it to escape the Dust Bowl, or take their family on vacation. Read three books from the following options.
Option 1: Read a book with an MPG of Road Trip or Adventure
Option 2: Read a book set in one of these states (of Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California).
Option 3: Read a book published between 1926 – 1985
Option 4: Read a book with the numbers 66 in the page count or publication date.
Option 5: Read a book by John Steinbeck, who wrote The Grapes of Wrath.
Option 6: Read a book set during the Dust Bowl.

The 50 point task will require:
1. Only 3 options. These options may not include more than 2 "sub options" - 6 total in the task.
2. One book per option.
3. Three books totaling at least 750 pages. Your task idea may require a higher page threshold but this must be disclosed in your entry.
4. No books with the genres children or kids on the main book page may be used.
5. Books whose main page lists any of these genres: Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, or Manga may not be used.
6. No “free choice” options will be allowed. This is a challenge, so tasks that have no element of challenge do not fit the purpose.
7. A task must be accessible to the majority of players, i.e. not limited to a specific format, edition, publisher, etc. and reviewable by the moderators.
Anyone eligible* to design a task may submit an idea for a task that follows the general guidelines above. Your idea should be a sketch that may be developed with the moderators.
* To be eligible to create a task, the player’s profile must be set up to accept Goodreads messages, and they must not have a task in the current challenge. Only one task per person per challenge.
The group will vote to determine the 50 point task. All ideas that fit the general guidelines will be included in a poll. The poll winner will develop their idea with the moderators to refine their task. The final task may differ from the original idea submission. The task will be posted as close to the midpoint as reasonably possible. The task creator will monitor and answer questions in the help thread.
Please include your Readerboard name and a title for your task. The entries will be listed by Readerboard name and task title in the poll. Please include only one task idea entry per post.
PLEASE DO NOT comment on people's entries in this thread - this is for submissions only. You will be able to comment on the poll when voting begins. Comments in this thread will be deleted.
