It’s now four years later and Gina Royal has changed her name to Gwen Proctor, her kids are now Atlanta (Lanny) and Connor. Social media has turned against her, believing she was complicit in her husband’s murderous activities. Were you surprised to learn she’d been put on trial or did you suspect as much? Would you have found it difficult to believe she knew nothing about what was going on in her garage or was that plausible?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments At first I was surprised she was charged, but with the scope of Mel's crimes it was hard for the cops to believe he didn't have help and to believe she didn't suspect or know anything.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think it would be hard for anyone to believe that Gina didn't know what her husband was doing. He did some carpentry work and locked up the garage tight, so her and the kids never stepped into it. And there should have been the smell of blood and decay. I don't know how a person covers that up.

I was surprised that they’d tried her for conspiracy and murder since there wasn’t any evidence to support that other than it being incredible that she was unaware. The one thing that swayed me in her innocence was the fact that their small children lived in that house. That’s hard to imagine that they’d both be complicit around the children.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I sensed that Gina was at least an emotionally abused and controlled wife, so that she stayed away from that garage because she feared her husband. I don't think she had any suspicions that sinister things were going on there. Very young and naive....
