Gwen has a strict regimen regarding clearance of their home whenever she’s out and returns, has a drill the kids must follow whenever something’s off. We see this before we learn any details about what she’s experienced in the past four years. What were you thinking in those moments…was she a bit paranoid, she’d experienced something awful or her imagination was running amok?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments At first, I thought she was a little paranoid. The book didn't say if she had had any direct, personal confrontations in the past other than the online attacks. It was good that she was prepared and vigilant, but I did think she was a little over the top.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments At first I thought she was a little paranoid, but I can see her point. You never know when someone was going to find out where she disappeared to and suddenly end up on her doorstep.

She was definitely paranoid but for good reason. They burned down her house! When they started threatening her children (who does that???), she didn’t have the choice of thinking it was meaningless. I certainly wouldn’t.
