Tami (tamicarvallo) | 99 comments So I need to find some books, but I don't have the name or plot or anything. However, I do have screencaps of the covers, albeit blurry ones where I can't make out the title, but you can see some details. Are there any sites you know of where I can post such requests or sites that could help? I also have the probable decades the book could've been published in. Are those requests allowed in this group?

A bit of background: I've been obsessed with this old TV series for years, and during my many rewatches, I started to notice the books in the background. After identifying one, I decided to read it (just because I love to read) and discovered it actually kind of had a deeper meaning that went with the TV show's plot at the time. It was a good read anyway. Whoever designed the sets had a good taste :D The books are real, not props. The more I identified and read, the more it became a personal project to identify them all and read them :)

Robert | 173 comments Some ideas:
- Try to google the show, maybe you find a fan site that already has such a list (or a forum where you can ask for help)
- Check the trivia of the show on IMDB, sometimes it includes such details
- Check if the show is available on a streaming site, it might be available there in good resolution, so you can read the titles
- If you already have some titles, you can try googling all of them together, and so find a list that includes them (and hopefully others from the show)

Denis DeLong | 211 comments Tami, Robert has some excellent suggestions, and I encourage you to try them.
Also, (Check with the mods first in case of possible copyright violations), you might, if you can, upload an image of the screencap to your thread; a member last year was trying to find a particular cookbook, but all they had was an image of the lower half of the spine. I don't believe it was ever marked "solved", but there were some great suggestions. Sometimes the font/format/spacing can be a clue. Good Luck!
Did it seem to you that episodes might have been based on, or at least suggested by, the actual book or story that you found? Also, is it possible to tell if the images are dust covers or not?

Thanks for the suggestions Robert. However, there's no list. If anything I should probably think of publishing mine because I don't think anyone has ever thought of it or no one has been this obsessed xD No trivia on imdb unfortunately. I did check on the streaming site and the highest quality available is where I got my blurry screenshots :/ It's a Colombian tv show/telenovela that's pretty old and I think it was not recorded in HD. Thanks anyway! I also tried Google lens and Google reverse search and the images are so blurry is not picking up any images remotely similar.

Thanks for the suggestions Denis. I will check with the mods if it's possible to post a request like that.

Not actually based on, but for example, in one of the episodes of one of the generations (the story covers several generations of the same family), there was a book that appears in the bedroom of a particular character. The book is called 'In the Life of Ignacio Morel,' which I'm currently reading. One of the plots in this book involves the main character's infidelity with a married woman, and in the TV show, that became the major plot for that generation and that character in particular—infidelity. He also has an affair with a married woman. However, the story is not the same. I suppose it was a subtle Easter egg.

No, I don't think it's possible to tell if it's a dust cover.

Robert | 173 comments Hmm.. in that case, a wild guess: try googling for something like "online ai photo enhancer" and see if the tools that come up can sharpen the images. Maybe you get lucky and can pick out a few letters/words.

I did try that. Do you know of any free good ones? The ones I tried were free and didn't work. Unfortunately, I can't afford one. There was no difference in the image. Perhaps it's just too blurry for the AI to handle.

Ingo (ilembcke) | 669 comments Not to discourage you, but as I have done this a few times, several series ( "Lost" comes to mind ) have fake books, made up for it.

If your image is blurry, even if it is a valid book, enhancing it is might not work, even if you pay for it.
The best bet is stating the series and looking for fandoms and blogs for the series and question people there. That said, you never stated the series or movie title here.

Not sure wether it is still possible to link to images, here on Goodreads, and then there is this whole copyright law, but you might put the screen-grab on some online service and link to it for all to see. Without this, without a description, and missing title of the show there is no real chance of someone here helping you.

As the question is about a specific book, it might belong in this group, maybe some mod can advise ?

Regarding the authenticity of the books featured in the series, I can confidently confirm that they are not props. I have already identified a long list of books and have verified they are real books that have been published. The continuity of the materials from the same or similar decades suggests a deliberate effort to mark the passage of time, which aligns with the multi-generational narrative of the series.

Despite my search, I have been unable to find any fandoms or blogs dedicated to this series. Just one blogspot with 3 posts in total that tells a false story about the series origins and hasn't been updated in 16 years (since 2007.) Not sure if mods allow such links in replies so I'll play safe and not include it.

While I have gleaned some insights from YouTube comments on uploaded episodes, my inquiries about the books have yielded no results. Nonetheless, I remain committed to identifying them.

For those curious, the series in question is titled 'La saga, negocio de familia', it has been two decades since it initially aired. It appears to have flown under the radar in online communities.

Goodreads allows users to include links and images in their posts and replies. I was unsure if such requests could be posted in this group and couldn't find anything when I used the search function. Hopefully it's allowed by the mods.
