Markus Schmidt | 10 comments Hi to all of you,
My name is Markus, I'm from Germany. I'm new to this group and wanted to say Hi ;)

I got into Star Wars books last year because I started reading The High Republic.
Now I really want to get started on all the other books that are available but I'm a little overwhelmed :D

I did some research on YouTube and other websites about in which order you should read all these books available.
Primarily I want to focus on the canon books but I'm not sure if it's better to read them chronologically or if I should read the "better" books first.
I heard about pros and cons for both ideas but I thought I should ask here, since you all seem to be experts :D

So I hope you can give me some advice!

Thank you in advance ;)

Zach Banuelos (zachkr) | 3 comments Hi Markus,

This website is what I use for a reading order..it shows both canon/non-canon lists and seems pretty accurate so far..I’ve been using this list for the last couple years and it seems like it was being updated regularly..it also includes shows, movies, etc. hope this helps :)

Markus Schmidt | 10 comments Hi Zach,

Thank you so much, that's a great list! So did/do you read the books in chronological order?

message 4: by Zach (new)

Zach Banuelos (zachkr) | 3 comments I do, for the most part. I’ve been using both list’s concurrently for the full lore. I was really interested in the Darth Maul history so I had read all his books but jumped back into the list after..and I read other things concurrently as well..I’m currently reading Rogue Planet..I do also take detours to read the High Republic stuff that comes out and of course I read other stuff than SW lol.

Do you have a plan? Are you wanting to read the full lore or just sections or just casual?

Lisa | 3 comments I agree with Zach. Wookieepedia is great for all things Star Wars. I'm also reading Canon and Legends books; catching up on the ones I missed when they came out and also reading the new ones as they are released.

There are also quite a few good YouTube channels to follow for Star Wars books reviews/info. One of my favorites is Jonathon Koan; he has lots of info on Star Wars books; reviews, order to read, etc.

Hope you enjoy being in the Star Wars universe.

Markus Schmidt | 10 comments I'm currently reading The High Republic as well, but I just started Phase 2. I want to keep reading that anyway.
I really wanna dive deep into the full lore, that's why reading them in chronological order makes sense to me. But I'd also like to read new releases so I can join people talking about it and be excited about new releases.
So maybe a combination would be best for me :D

Welcome to the group Markus!! We're so happy to have you here!!! I used the Wookiepedia Canon list to make my bookshelf for the group initially. And check in with it periodically. I also love reading the Legends!!!

You can totally dive right in or start at the beginning, it's definitely a find your own pace club!!! I think everyone is sort of doing their own thing.

We're happy to have you here. Jump into any of the threads when you finish something, if you want. And if there's a thread missing for a book you're reading, I'm happy to add it in there!!!

Markus Schmidt | 10 comments Hi Lizzie,
Thank you so much for the warm welcome! :))
I also think that I just need to start somewhere and since I like having some "order" and I wanna really understand all the details and connections inside a specific time period, I think I might just start at the beginning and focus on canon first. Maybe I wanna expand it to legends at some point but I think that's my plan for now :D
can't wait to discuss some stuff with you :)

Keely Franklin | 1 comments Heyyy!!

You should check out this website! It has all the canon books in chronological order and is updated regularly. This is one of the better sites I have found as I have also had trouble figuring out the reading order. Hope this helps!!
