Penryn and the End of Days Re-Read discussion

Did you have to wait in between Angelfall and World After when you first read them or were you able to return to the story right away?

I was able to return to the story right away since I read Angelfall after World after was published. I'm really lucky, I don't think I would have been able to stand the wait.

Me, too, but it was shortly after WA was published, so I had to go through the agony of waiting for EoD. Now it's almost here! I am so excited!! :))

I didn't have to wait long. It was only a few months of waiting, so I got lucky. But it still felt like forever.

Do somebody know if world after will be translated in german ?

You guys are lucky! I was one of the early readrs. I had to wait over a year for World After. It was agonizing.

Oh! I had to wait. HATED IT! HAHAHA I kept dogging/stalking/creeping all over Susan Ee news for WHEN I was gonna be able to read World After. hahahah I got all growly for the first half of the wait and then all nail-biter-ish in the last half! I got it the day it came out and read it that same day.
I'm been an equal freak about End of Days!! CANT WAIT!!!

Early reader! I read Anfelfall when I was 13 and I loved it. I was so so proud of discovering such a beautiful book by myself that I recommended it to everyone at school! Some of my friends thought that angel books are all the same but after I persisted with them to read angelfall, they gave in and totally loved it. Even though, the wait for world after wasn't so painful for me, because I was a fresh reader and there was a whole plethora of books for me to read!-The reading world is big!-so yeah, that's my story :P

I was one of Susan's early readers too, I found out about the book on a blog when it was under the radar, so had to wait what felt like an Age until WA. But I kept re-reading AF because I was so in love with the story and characters. A bit like I am doing now with WA. (And also fanfic has kept me going!)

Browsing through all your comments, I realized that I'm really lucky! :-D I found Angelfall in my local bookstore by accident and I read its Chinese version at first last year, so I was able to read WA right after reading AF. But these few months wait for EoD feels like an eternity. ><

I was really lucky too! I read the German version of Angelfall only a couple of months before World After was released:) Originally I had planned on waiting to read it closer to the release date of EoD, but I was unable to wait:/

So things get even darker in World After. After what happened to Paige, Penryn has to make some pretty difficult decisions and things get pretty hairy at rebel HQ. At the time did you think Penryn was right to defend her sister?

I'm with Mom on this one. I think Pen failed in sticking up for her sister and should have done it sooner. From the beginning. So yeah, it was right of her to but she should have been doing it without question. All Paige ever did was protect Pen and defend herself.

That was one sucky about World After; Pen failed her sister from the moment she found Paige to the very end when she finally defended the sister she had vowed to protect and looked for throughout Angelfall.

I think Penryn reacted to Paige the same way anyone would have in the beginning. One thing that we've seen in both books so far is that humans are highly superstitious and afraid of the unknown, and Penryn has her bone-deep superstitions as well, though she faces her fears better than most because of what she had to go through growing up.

She was afraid of Raffe, the scorpions, the angels and even her sister. She has no idea what her sister has become or what's left of the little girl she loved. She froze up in her initial interactions with all these "monsters" and it took her time to get used to them, swallow her fears and react rationally and with compassion. I give her total props. It takes a lot to overcome fear like that and adapt to monumental change in life. None of the other humans we've seen have been capable of it (I'd argue even Obi and DeeDum would not have the strength), but Penryn accepts Raffe and accepts Paige despite her fear and momentary hesitation and learns to feel compassion toward them no matter what they become. That's why she's a hero.

Yes absolutely!! She had the right; Paige, herself, didn't volunteer as tribute to be turned into the Nephilim. However Pen pausing in shock is a logical thing to do. I can totally see myself doing that.

This is bang on! Penryn is so strong, but she's strong in a way that's completely believable and human.

So in World After Penryn had to spend a lot of time away from Raffe – how did you all cope!?

Like I said in another thread, I loved seeing the longing that developed between Raffe and Penryn. And anyways their re-uniting at the end was almost worth it! Peanut Butter and PookyBear ♡♥♡♥
