Sidney opened the door to her dorm anxiously. She sniffed the air and caught a faint whiff of garlic bread. Well at least she now knew that her mysterious roommate was not a vampire. Sidney looked around her room and smiled. Star patterned pillows, a blue themed undertone, soft warm fairylights lining the corner above her bed like millions of stars-- it was perfect.

Oh yeah sure! I was just about to ask you in the dorm request topic lol

Sidney was sliding her books in a colour-coded and alphabetical system in the bookshelf along the wall next to her bed when she heard the door to the dorm creak open. She whipped around just as her roommate appeared and smiled nervously.

Shadow jumped, surprise showing on her face as she suddenly dissappeared into Sidney's shadow. On the table was some garlic bread she had made earlier

"Uh- hi!" Sidney yelped, surprised. She looked down at her own silhouette framed by the lights on the fuzzy rug and uncertainly moved, seeing if her shadow was still normal. It certainly appeared normal. She took a deep breath.
"Ermm... please don't be shy. My name is Sidney. You must be my roommate?"

Shadow hesitantly emerged from the shadow, "S-Sorry, you spooked me. I didn't know if I had a roommate." She stood up, her semi blueish white skin slightly shining, "I'm Shadow or Phoenix." She said nervously

((so its alright if I call her Phoenix so it can be less confusing when you say Shadow in a sentence with shadow? :) ))

Sidney smiled and quelled the nervousness building up in her stomach. "They are both such pretty names! Mind if I call you Phoenix? It suits you so well. 'Like stars burning with passion, and ashes scattering with defeat, the phoenix-'" She abruptly stopped herself from rambling. Sidney hadn't noticed that she started to quote a line she read from one of her favourite novels and she blushed.

She blushed slightly as well, "You can call me whatever you want." She said, "Also, you've read that book too? And is there any food allergies you have?"

Sidney grinned. "Yes, it's one of my favourite books! I'm allergic to crustacean shellfish but its okay because I'm vegetarian. What about you?"

"I'm not allergic to anything food related." Phoenix said, her social battery seemingly dead already

"Oh." Sidney sensed that Phoenix may have felt a bit tired and wanted to rest and settle in.
"Well, I'm hungry right now so I'm just going to the Cafeteria to grab some food..." she trailed off tentatively. "You can come along unless you're feeling tired. I'm going to explore the academy for a bit."

Phoenix smiled slightly, "Thanks for the offer, but I think I'm going to rest for the moment."

"That's okay! I'll come back quietly in an hour or so." Sidney turned around but before leaving she frowned, stared at her bookshelf and quickly switched around the two different shaded yellow books. She nodded, satisfied and with a final smile at Phoenix, left the dorm with her brown satchel.

Phoenix watched her go curiously, this was a very interesting roommate to have. "I hope we could one day become friends." She mused to herself, "But that's unlikely, I mean look at me." She went to her bed and laid down

Oh my! I actually REALLY like that, you have my favorite color and stuff I would actually put in my dorm room.))

((Thank you! Purple is my favorite color too, and I just thought it fit Shadow.))

Sidney entered their dorm with an armful of newspapers and 2 thick books. She dumped them on her bed with a sigh and sat down.

Phoenix appeared from Sidney's shadow, "Hello there," She said smiling

Sidney yelped. "I forgot you could do that!"
She showed Phoenix an article she found from 5 years ago. "I don't think the society can be trusted. I found nothing that shows what the society actually does and there was this girl- Andromeda Ainsworth- that went mssing 5 years ago. They could find nothing about her disappearance- all that was left behind was a note written to the Arcane Society saying that she wants to quit and 'won't do it anymore'. No one knows what that actually means."

Phoenix frowned, "It seems like it'd be fun though." She said, "It' so boring around here and it's going to take more than a few cult members to kill me." She added in a small voice, "I hope so at least."

Sidney smiled gently. "We should be okay. What's the worst they could possibly do to two new students?", she corrected herself quickly, "maybe it could be fun. But now I just wanna know what happened to Andromeda. I can't help but feel like I'm still missing something. Let's do some more research in case there was something I overlooked."

She nodded, "Hand me one of the books, I'm a fast reader."

Sidney handed her one and they both flicked through pages, scanning them intently.

"I think I found a codeword of some sorts," she said catiously, "But I don't think I should say it out loud, it might make them come after us."

"Oh!" Sidney exclaimed as Phoenix showed her. "You're right. It's a pattern of some sort at the front page of every academy newspaper. Interesting."

"My ADHD self wants me to say it." She said smiling, "What's the worst they could do to us?"

Sidney grinned nervously. "R-right? So I guess we're going. Plan is, we go to the meeting, see what they want us to do and try to find out what we can. Lights out is in one hour so I assume we can sneak out after then."

Are we going to timeskip forward?)) "Good idea," she said smiling, "You seem a little uneasy." She paused, "May I give you a hug? You're the first person who has actually cared about me."

Sidney beamed. "And I'm sure I can't be the only one who does care about you. I would love a hug right now please." When Phoenix leaned forward, she smelt of a strong slightly sweet and flowery scent. It was very comforting and Sidney thought that Phoenix was more special than she made herself out to be.

((yep! and we can cut to the part after the meeting (just after you say your part now) so that our characters are still in the dorm just talking about what happened like for example: *after the meeting* and then Sidney and Phoenix just chat abt it))

sure thing!)) Phoenix hugged Sidney, smiling slightly. "I wish that were true, my parents are no longer here to care for me."

((Hey! Sorry to interrupt again, but I'm curious about Andromeda. Would she be played by someone and they end up finding her? Or is she just a background character and is only mentioned?))
