HOW TO JOIN

1. Reply to this thread with "I want to participate in a group" or "I want to participate by myself," and the number of books you read/listen to each year (this isn't to judge your reading habits but to attempt to create balanced teams).
2. The deadline to join a team is April 25th.
3. Anyone can join Spring Fling as long as the competition lasts, but after April 25th all newcomers will be soloists.

RULES

✧ Members will be broken out into up to 3-5 separate teams (or go solo) before the start date (May 1st). You will work together to complete a series of tasks together and complete as many of them as you wish.
✧ Books must be read and reviewed during May 1st through June 30th. Any books or audiobooks started before May 1st or finished after June 30th will not count.
✧ If you read an Audiobook version of a book convert the hours to pages using this site: https://alamantus.itch.io/time-to-page or use the print equivalent on Goodreads.
✧ Graphic/Manga novels are accepted but will only count for half of the listed page count
✧ You must post at least 3 status updates OR a review. It doesn't have to be super detailed but try to not just say "this was good" for the book to count.
✧ For prompts: if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit, and it will not count.
✧ Minimum Lengths:
• Books: 150 pages
• Graphic Novels: 200 pages (halved=100 pages)
• Audiobooks: 150 pages (use GR print equivalent length)

POINT SYSTEM

+1 point for every book that has been read and reviewed that correlates with a prompt
+2 points for participating in a buddy read (must take place in the group)
+3 for one completed category
+4 points for reading/participating in a group read (must take place in the group)
+5 points for every 1,000 pages read
Note: Mods keep track of all points in a shared Google Sheets spread to keep everything as organized as possible.
Note 2: You must actively participate in a buddy or group read for the points to count. Lack of participation means no points!

1. Read a book where a main character pretends to be someone else
2. Read a book with a dress on the cover
3. Read a book that was translated
4. Read an own-voices book
5. Read a book that has a redesigned cover

Decades Dance
1. Read a book set in the 20th century (the 1900s)
2. Read the first book listed when you sort your TBR by date added, descending
3. Read a book with a blue cover
4. Read a book written by an author who has died
5. Read a historical fiction book

Goth Prom
1. Read a paranormal romance
2. Read a book set or published in the 1800s
3. Read a banned book
4. Read a book with a black cover
5. Read a book written by a POC author

Enchanted Forest
1. Read a fairytale retelling
2. Read a book about royalty
3. Read a book written by an author from a country you’ve never been to
4. Read a book about magic
5. Read a book with a tree on the cover

Luxe
1. Read a book with a 4.5 or higher average GR rating
2. Read a self-published book
3. Read a science fiction book
4. Read a book written by an LGBTQ+ author
5. Read a book with gold in the title (the word or the color)

Carnival
1. Read a book written by an author from Central or South America
2. Read a book with a red cover
3. Read a book about the performing arts
4. Read a graphic novel

I'd like to be in a group and I read 100 books a year

I would like to sign up for a group - typically ready between 70-100 books a year. I am currently getting out of a reading slump so reading on the slower side (only read 4 in March compared to 14 in January).

I would like to be in a group and generally I estimate to read anything between 45 to 75 books per year.

QQ (yes, planning out my reading): For Decades Dance #5, would an historical fantasy count as historical fiction? For example, would Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter or Half a Soul count?

@Araceli welcome!! All you have to do is read a book matching a prompt (from the list in the beginning of this thread). You get points for each book you read+extra if you participate in a BR or GR (within this group)

How will decades dance 2 be verified? because after reading it, it'll no longer be in our TBR list?
