Tim | 152 comments Finally getting around to reading E.M. Forster's A Room with a View. It's a classic that's been in my to-read collection for years and I finally downloaded it. So far, it's excellent and I see why it survived over a century as a "must read".

message 2: by Rhiannon (new)

Rhiannon (currentlyrhiding) | 35 comments I've already finished two books this month (Dark Rise and Dark Heir), and now I'm currently working on an ARC of This Ravenous Fate. I have several other ARCs from NetGalley and Edelweiss I'd also really like to get to this month, as well as some backlist titles that have been on my Kindle for a minute.

I would also highly recommend the 1985 film of the same name. It's one of my favorite movies; great acting all around and beautiful Italian settings.

message 4: by Tim (new)

Tim | 152 comments Thx - will check that film version out.

Did you read Maurice by E.M. Forster and its sequel Alec by William di Canzio?

message 27: by Tim (new)

Tim | 152 comments Maurice is on my to be read list and now I've added Alec - thanks for the recommendation. If you have any interest in E.M. Forster, I recommend Greenland by David Santos Donaldson which is a fictional account of a man trying to write a biography of Forster - a really entertaining and layered read.

I love it so far!

message 33: by Bill (new)

Bill | 464 comments I'm reading This Too Is Love by Jay Edson.

The story line is a bit uncomfortable but I'm keeping an open mind.

message 34: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Bagshaw (oliviabagshaw) | 9 comments Finally diving into William Golding's Lord Of The Flies! I never got the chance to read this at school, and I thought it'd be a great entry-point back into reading regularly again.

I'm certainly picking up on a lot of cold war anxiety within the book, but also the way that any sense of structure quickly resorts to jealousy of power. I'm still quite early into the book (50 pages in) but I can definitely sense the tension.

Yes! I have quite a few! Highly recommend Follow your Arrow by Jesscia Verdi, Going Bicoastal by Dahlia Adler, Cool for the Summer by Dahlia Adler, Lucy by Jamaica Kincaid.

If you want more let me know, but these are some of my faves.

message 44: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 47 comments I know this thread is for April, but as some other people have posted here in May I thought I'd say that I just finished the book "Homofamiljer" (Swedish for Homofamilies) which is a guide in what to expect as a homosexual person who wants to form a family in Sweden. The information was a bit outdated because it was written in 2004, but it shows different constellations of families and what kind of difficulties and questions one might stumble upon if trying to have children through IVF or adoption.

I'm moving on to "Queer Conception," which is a book much more suited for me, as a trans man.

message 45: by Sean (new)

Sean | 11 comments It isn’t Queer themed (at least so far) but I am reading Colm Toibin’s sequel to “Brooklyn” called “Long Island”. At least the author is gay.

message 49: by Jess (new)

Jess Parks | 3 comments Sam Kerr has done it again. Another classic to inspire young and queer readers My Football Journal Highly recommend and good to get behind Sam during this tricky time

message 50: by Ben (new)

Ben | 3 comments I’m about to start Sociopath by Patric Cagne, and I’m really looking forward to it! It’s a memoir from a rare point of view. Struggling with societal norms, her own sense of morality, her coping mechanisms. She was recently on Arm Chair Expert talking about it. So fascinating 🤯
