I liked this better than expected considering that it's a time travel novel and I've was sated with that sort of story some years ago. There are some interesting twists in this, but more importantly the characters. I can't remember anything in the book about saying that the curse was centuries old, nor do we learn about why or when it started. However, June Farrow doesn't know anything about time travel; she's grown up believing that all the women in her line go mad due to the curse.

The writing is quite good as is Young's use of the English language.

In no way is this scifi, so I'm surprised that 47 people have tagged it that--there is no type of science, real or fictional, involved in this story--it's more along the lines of magic or fantasy time travel. Thus the over 1500 people who have shelved it fantasy and the 454 people magical realism, etc, are much closer to the mark.

I have this on my "maybe" list for this month.
