Ariel Palenik(TheDayDreamingWriter) (thedaydreamingwriter) | 35 comments I should clarify… I am looking for a new Stephen King book to read.

Susy (susysstories) | 89 comments Ah I thought you wanted us to choose from your owned books. In that case I’d go for The Shining, 11/22/63, It or Under the Dome.

Adrian Dooley (adox66) | 33 comments The Dead Zone.

One of his early classics.

Squire (srboone) | 92 comments I recommend Carrie. It's far from his best book, but it is his earliest and it shows where he started on his literary journey. It's a short book and is worth your time (even if you've seen the 1976 film; and especially if you've seen the 2013 remake).

Bob Jenkins | 10 comments Salem’s Lot. Although this may be recency biased as I’m currently reading it myself.

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments I’ve often said Salem’s Lot is King’s best or try Duma Key another under-appreciated classic.

message 15: by Julia (new)

Julia | 223 comments If you want something light try The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
Otherwise Misery

message 16: by Alexandra Y (new)

Alexandra Y | 10 comments For novels, I would recommend Firestarter, Later and Needful Things! If you are in the mood for a short story collection, Skeleton Crew is a great one

message 17: by Bob (new)

Bob Jenkins | 10 comments I loved Needful Things. Such a great book

message 18: by Erin (new)

Erin (ems84) | 2659 comments The Stand or if you want something more current, try Mr. Mercedes, the first in a trilogy.

Good choice.. :)

message 21: by Pisces51 (new)

Pisces51 Damn. I loved "Needful Things." The film adaptation disappointed me because it would take a mini series to do it justice. That said we have watched Needful Things probably a hundred times!
I have just started a re-read of "Pet Sematary". It is a group read for Horror Haven this month. It is unquestionably the most chilling book King has ever written. I think Salem's Lot may be the " scariest" (and its film adaptation with James Mason a classic). Both of these would be stellar reads from the works of King.

Mark Sullivan | 19 comments Joyland is one of my favorites. Christine is so under-appreciated. It's a great story about friendship, addiction, and the cost of anger.

Jacqueline (thereaderx1f4da) | 28 comments Hello 👋 I am thinking 🤔 maybe try his bill hodges series which will introduce you to holly gibbson and so yeah lol. I will start there or dark tower series. But I am like you and would love to read all of kings works even works under his other pen name. Happy book hunting 📚
