Cheryl (cherylllr) Lizz had a brilliant idea; I appreciate her so much!

For the month of May, read a Time Travel book of your choice that starts with the letter M. Some titles to consider include:

Midnight Strikes, Shahnaz
Meet Me in Another Life by Catriona Silvey
The Memory Theater by Karin Tidbeck

What's on your to-read list that starts with M?

Steven (politicoprof) | 112 comments And there's:

Mastodonia

The Mirror

Cheryl (cherylllr) Both of which the group has read, but MAYbe some folks missed those discussions. So thanks. :) And if anyone does pick up either of them, I'll post links to the archived discussions!

Cheryl (cherylllr) I found Myriad in a library catalog... off to see if I can pick it up with my holds.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 124 comments I am the author of Mistake in Time which will be on a Kindle Countdown Sale from 2nd May at 0.99. Hope this is helpful.

Cheryl (cherylllr) (Normally we don't permit promotional posts except in the designated folder, but Anna is being polite and helpful in this particular thread so I'm ok'ing it.)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 124 comments Thank you, Cheryl. I'm aware that being a moderator is no easy job. I remember being asked to be Games Captain at school and finding out that it really meant that I had to collect all the hockey sticks (etc) and put them away. That was only once a week - you are on duty every day.

Heather(Gibby) (heather-gibby) | 469 comments These are the ones that I have on my TBR:
Marking Time
Middlegame
Millennium

Will probably pick one of those

message 9: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Great! I look forward to finding out what you think.

message 10: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) So, I tried Myriad but had to dnf. Got to p. 124. Not sure why exactly but it just didn't work for me. I can see why others would find it interesting and/or exciting, though, so *shrug*.

I'll try to find something else though, I don't want to write off the month completely!

Cheryl (cherylllr) The Man Who Saw the Future by Edmond Hamilton is a neat little story on Project Gutenberg. I found it by Googling 'time travel books in alphabetical order.' https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/subj... and of course there are other M stories listed there, free and ready to read.

Molly (molly_bee) | 1 comments I've been planning for a while to reread Mike McQuay's Memories, which I read when it was new (and several times after that), but haven't read in probably 30 years.

UPDATE: I abandoned it. 1987 was a long time ago, and now I'm... not sure why I liked this book so much. :-)

Deborah | 36 comments I've got The Ministry of Time on hold at the library, but I may not get it before the month is over.

message 14: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Those both look very interesting! I look forward to learning what you each think of them, even if it is after the end of the month.

message 15: by Lizz (new)

Lizz Taylor | 218 comments Thank you to whoever recommended Meet Me in Another Life. It was very interesting. It took me a bit to warm up to the characters and plot line but once I did I couldn't put it down. Sliding Doors with a serious twist.

message 16: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well now you've got me interested in going back to May and catching up with Meet Me in Another Life. I'm glad you found something you like for M!

message 17: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I despised Meet Me in Another Life. Turns out that it's really (view spoiler)

Until I realized that, I liked the idea. Not just one alternate histor or "15" lives,* but a whole bunch. That would have been a cool book.

(*The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August ;)

Deborah | 36 comments I finally read The Ministry of Time
I gave it 4 stars. I liked everything but the ending.

message 19: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Glad it was worth the wait!
Sometimes when I don't like an ending I make up a new one....
