A Torch Against the Night is book two in the Ember In the Ashes series. Book two takes off just where book one left off. Laia and Elias are trying to escape the Empire, but must rescue Laia's brother from the notorious Kauf prison first. Book two adds the voice of Helene the former best friend of Elias who has pledged her allegiance to the Emperor and the Empire.
Filled with many twists and turns and non stop action book two was even better than the first book. This book was darker and more violent than the first book. Because this is a series the reader is left with questions at the end of the book. I am really surprised how much I'm enjoying the tag of fantasy-romance. It is not something I would normally have chosen.

I'm glad to see this was even better than the first one. I keep wanting to get to it but haven't been able to fit it in yet.
