Play Book Tag discussion

I know that there have been lots of people who really enjoyed this book, but I really struggled to keep my attention on it, especially in the final third. The first third of the book had a good premise and was fast-paced, but despite there being a lot forced into this book, with both a romance and a mystery and too many different time periods to travel to, the pace really slowed down around the half-way mark. I also felt that a lot of the characters chose to act in ways that did not seem in character for them. But the most disappointing thing for me was that there was a complete lack of historical content, or it really just skimmed the surface of too many time periods. This is a series that I’m happy to have tried, but even happier to know that there are much better books to read out there, and so I’ve cleared this series from my TBR.

I think you either love this series or not. I adore it on audio but I know many people aren't impressed with it. The author does have background in history, but the plots are usually way over the top.
