I did not care for this book so I will keep it short. It is a combination of time travel, mystery, and family drama. Protagonist June tells the story of her family’s “curse.” All the females seem to develop mental illness, which appears to be affecting June. She finds herself walking through a door to another timeline and knows absolutely nothing about what is going on – she has no memories of her life. She is repeatedly kept in the dark by those around her. It seems like the setup to the story continues for ninety percent of the book when a little communication could clear up the confusion. I really dislike this technique. I kept wanting to abandon it, but I hung in there hoping for a payoff that never arrived. It is one of the dullest books I’ve read. Even when something finally happens it feels overwrought and ridiculous. I wish I could say something positive but for me, it was just dreadful.
