Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I liked the story. It was a real twisty one. I didn't like how the Stahl thread played out; I expected something a lot better than him getting caught feeding info to the newspaper, then going ballistic on Sam.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I loved the mystery. I had no idea where it was going or who killed Willie. I loved that there were a lot of suspects to work through.

As far as Stahl, I agree with Anita. I wish his trip to a jail cell would have been a little flashier. Leaking the story was a little bit of a let down. We already knew he would do something like that.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1801 comments I enjoyed the investigation and the developments in the characters' lives.

I have to accept that I am never going to like Sam as a heroine and just enjoy the books for the cases and the other characters.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree with everyone. I liked the mystery and trying to figure out who was behind it. I was surprised.

I wanted Stahl to have a sexual harassment case or something a little more dramatic to bring him down. I find it hard to believe that he is dumb enough to come to Sam's house and assault her.

I agree with Lauren; Sam is not my favorite heroine. I always find something about her that drives me crazy, but she isn't as bad as in the first couple of books.

I agree. She is not as bad as she was but she still annoys me at least once in every book 😂

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I'm not a Sam fan either. I find it unbelievable that this series has 16 books. It just isn't that good.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I believe it makes a difference if you started this series before or after "In Death." Also, if you are younger or have a little more life experiences.

Jonetta said it gets better as the series goes on. I can believe that because the first few books were so unbelievable to me.

It has definitely gotten better since the first couple of books. I can see Force's improvement in writing and plotting although there are still quite a few unrealistic elements that stretch the imagination a lot!

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I have a niggling doubt about the killer brothers. We first learned, before we had suspects, that the knifing appeared to have been done by a left-handed person. The first brother did sign his name left-handedly (I think I have this correct), but the second brother (was he the one who confessed?) signed with his right hand.

Were these two guys twins? I didn't see whether they were or not, but I was hung up on my assumption that they were twins. So my own left-handedness had me thinking about the knifing.

I know that identical twins can be both right-handed, and that mirror-image identical twins (the fertilized egg splits slightly later) can be one right- and one-left handed. I have always assumed that they are never both left-handed.

See how I got myself into a box of my own choosing? Did I miss something about these scenes at HQ?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1801 comments That's a very good catch, Charlene!
