The Slip 'N Slide was designed by Robert Carrier in 1960, who was inspired by his children's attempt to cool off in their driveway. He patented the design and sold it to toymaker Wham-O. The Slip ‘N Slide enjoyed immediate and long lasting success. Of course, over the years other companies have created competing versions of the slide, some even resulting in legal disputes. Though the Slip ‘N Slide name has become synonymous with the product and those like it, now, none except Wham-O’s can be the trademark yellow. “Remember,” wrote Wham-O on the toy’s 50th anniversary, “if it’s not yellow—it’s not a Slip ‘N Slide.”

Breaking will be a new Olympic event in Paris.
Breaking is a style of dance that originated in the Bronx in the 1970s. Over the decades, it has evolved into a competitive sport, complete with international events, a robust judging system and world championships.
16 men and 16 women (known as "B-Boys" and "B-Girls") will compete at the Olympics, with a round robin followed by quarterfinals, semifinals and medal battles. Each battle features a best-of-three one-on-one contest of approximately one minute. When one breaker finishes their round, their opponent instantly begins their routine in a battle format.
A panel of nine judges score the B-boys and B-girls on six criteria: creativity, personality, technique, variety, performativity and musicality. Performativity and creativity hold the most weight (60%), and the other categories account for the other 40%.
Breaking is unique in that the B-Girls and B-Boys don’t know the music ahead of time — they must improvise their moves to the beat.
This task requires 2 books.
Book 1. Read a book published in the 1970's OR read a book that takes place specifically in the Bronx (not just New York - the Bronx must be the setting)
Book 2. Read a book whose author's first and last initials appear in the word IMPROVISE.

The bonus theme is It's All Fun and Games: Outdoor Games
As in past challenges some tasks may revolve around the seasonal theme of Summer. Others may reflect the bonus theme. Other tasks may have nothing to do with either of those themes, they’re just fun or unique ideas to stimulate your reading.
Feel free to post as many ideas as you can come up with. Don’t worry about repeating what someone else has might have already suggested. The more ideas, the better!
The moderators will draw from these ideas as well as their own to create the 5, 10 and 15 point tasks. This thread will be open for ideas until May 14. Winter tasks will begin to be posted on May 15. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!
