I'm in North Carolina, as well. We moved here just under 2 years ago. We're near Charlotte, in Mooresville.
I would rather not be captain this time around, as well. But I can do it if no one else can. I just might be a little scattered for a bit.
Also, I'm getting ready to start A Deadly Education, so I'll wait until tomorrow evening and then use it for my Free Space book.

Honestly, I would rather not be captain but can if needed. Last bingo was my first time playing so I am glad to be back!

A few thoughts for a team name:
Tar Heel Terrors
NC Ninjas
Southern Spirits
Or due to recent events: Stronger Than the Storm.

I kind of like Stronger Than the Storm.

I can try. I'm captain in Pass the Parcel, and wish that I wasn't. That one seems to take a lot of time to manage. But I seem to recall that this one is easier.

Oh my! I don’t know that challenge. Sigh….
I’m currently moderating a bingo game on a cozy mystery group. We are in week 8 with no winner in sight yet. I dithered about joining this round but I love this bingo!

Review:
Visiting the Master of the city of New Orleans was always challenging, but it was worse when he was in a mood.
This is the eighth book in the series and New Orleans is preparing for the arrival of the European Council. Leo is in a snit trying to amp up his security at headquarters. get his new house built and secured, and have Jane look for the Stake of Golgotha which can control Mithrans. Add to this a killing machine know as Satan's Three that are trying to wipe out Leo and Jane.
This series gets better with each book. I loved the mythology and the history behind the creation of vampires and shifters. There always seems to be some new nugget that I either missed in previous books or is just being revealed.
The romance stepped up in the storyline. I've been unhappy with Bruiser (George) because of events a couple of books back. I'm happy to report that he is back in my good graces. He and Jane (and Beast) really stepped up to the next level of their relationship. I am most thankful that Rick was only mentioned and did not appear in New Orleans.
The Younger brothers have established themselves as strong, capable characters that are a great foil for Jane. I love how all of their personalities meld into a cohesive "family unit".
The invisible force that attacks Jane is a surprise. (view spoiler) . The arcenciel is a fascinating magicla being and I hope we can learn more about them.
The action is constant and often graphic. One of my favorite characters is seriously injured and I found myself holding my breath regarding his survival.
I alternated between reading and listening to this book. The narration often helps me with the Cajun/French and the correct pronunciation of the magical creatures. I read during lunch at work and listened pretty much every chance I could get.
This series has caught and held my interest although I almost gave up after the one of the early books ticked me off. Now i recommend it highly.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Review: This story follows Tessa, a human that lives in a kingdom ruled by the vicious fae king, King Oberon and is surrounded by deadly mists. She has been stealing gems from the king and funneling the gems to rebels in hopes of freeing the oppressed humans that live in the kingdom. When she is caught, she is forced to become the king's human bride. In the nick of time, the rebels swoop in and rescue Tessa from the king. Unfortunately it turns out the leader of the rebels may be the very one responsible for the mists.
This book had a lot of potential but honestly I thought it fell a little flat. Tessa is immature and frustrating. She seems to run hot and cold with her feelings on her companions and it gets annoying quick. Good news is that there is a lot of room for growth.
I am in no hurry to continue the series but maybe one day.

Review:
Jillian Ramsay, PhD, was driving a panel van without air-conditioning through an area known as the Devil's Armpit.
It has been a long time since I read a Molly Harper book and this one did not disappoint.
Jillian has been sent to Mystic Bayou, Louisiana to compile research on town's supernaturals and how they interact with humans. She is a last minute replacement due to the intended researcher being injured by an unicorn. The town's mayor, Zed Berend, is a bear shifter that is outgoing and fun-loving. The sheriff, Bael Boone, is a dragon who does not like outsiders. Guess which one she falls for.
The townspeople are very open to Jillian's research until a couple of the interviewees end up murdered. I thought the culprit was rather obvious from the start but it did not distract from the plot.
Bael and Jillian's relationship gets hot (no pun intended!) very quickly. It was interesting to learn the expectations of the dragon clan and how Bael stuck by Jillian. I love that Zed sticks his nose into everything and gives his friend Bael such a hard time about the relationship.
After reading some pretty hard core UF, this book was a welcome lighthearted story that made me smile. I know I will be returning to Mystic Bayou soon to see what other stories will play out.

Review: I picked up a used copy of this at my local bookstore. I am sooooo glad I did. I loved this book. And now several of my kids are reading it as well. Orion and El together are perfection, the world is wonderful, and the world-building is very well done.

A note to Sandra: I do have an In Death put aside for a couple of themes. 8-)

I still need to do my free space but I am on it!

Fun! But what if they don't come up in order?

Requirement: Choose a book using one of the following options ...
* For "September", read a book published in the month of September within the last 4 years (2021-24); a book with an academia trope; or 'harvest' in the title or series name
* For shifter(s), read a book found on one of these shelves: GR shifter, GR shifters, SOS shifter or SOS were-shifter

Lol! I’ll figure something out.

In Death works because after the first 5 or so, they can be read out of order. But I made the mistake of reading the collection of Jane Yellowrock short stories for the last bingo. That was bad. I haven't picked up the next book yet because of the spoilers I got in that collection.

lol!

Don’t you love when a plan comes together.

This is the second book in the Fantasyland series. I loved the first one and had high hopes for this one.
This story follows Circe as she has woken up in a strange land and is immediately found herself claimed by the Horde king. Circe works hard to fit into her new primitive life, learn the language and culture in order to fit into her role as the queen as well as learning to handle her new savage husband.
If you love Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones then you would love this. I didn't always love their relationship but I am glad that the FMC wasn't a complete pushover. I cringed as much as I smiled. While it was fun and different, it wasn't my favorite.
