I love her inner monologue and how she thinks things through before she acts, and how she is trying to earn the respect of the queen's guard. I love the relationships she is forming with them, and their banter, it's pretty hilarious.
I think this book is exceedingly well written. I like the mystery of who Kelsea's father is, the sapphire jewels, why she was sent into hiding, and the death of her mother.

I love that we get the perspective of Javel, because we got to see the image he saw of Kelsea when she was holding her sapphire up. The image of the True Queen.

We agree because we have the same name!!! =-D

Lol, twins!

I agree that this book is very well written. It makes it easy to read very quickly for me! I like all the mysteries we have so far of Kelsea's parents.
I'm also intrigued more about the Crossing. It's a little vague. From what I understand, people from Britain and America immigrated from those countries and came to a newly discovered continent they named The Tearling? Is this supposed to be in the same world as our world? It seemed before the immigrants came here they left a world that was at least equivilant to our present world. Where did this mysterious land come from? How did no one know it was there ahead of time? Why are there no other countries or people trying to come there, too? If this country is somehow a part of our present world, than it makes no sense that people first discovered it until now. Maybe this is a parallel world? Or this is a country on a separate world and the Crossing involved space ships? This is the one bit of world building that is frustrating me right now. On the surface it sounds cool, but when you think more about it, it doesn't make any sense.
But I am really, really enjoying the story line other than that as well as all the characters in the book.

I was worried this would be too much like Throne of Glass... Orphaned Girl must take up mantle of Deceased King and Queen against Evil Ruler. But I've been pleased to see that Kelsea/Celaena and the storyline/world are significantly different.
So far I'm really really enjoying this- it's just sucked me in! And the writing is beautiful and epic. I can't wait to find out about the Red Queen/Elyssa/the Keep/all the mysteriousness...
I am confused about the Crossing as well? What's going on with America and Britain? Why can't they get more medicine/doctors from them?

But he's way older than Kelsea... hmm. I wonder if he's a wizard/magician/what do they call magical people in this series? Haha I kind of want them to have a short romance before Kelsea winds up with someone else? He's definitely a Flynn Rider-bad boy type character. Or maybe we'll get to know him better and I'll love him like I love Flynn Rider.

So far I ship the Fetch and Kelsea a little, but if Christina is right then that would be extremely awkward.. >.>

That crossed my mind, too... I hope not!

It crossed my mind that he may be her father and that's why he let her see his face, but it would be rather creepy, so I'm not set on that theory.
I am also wondering where Tearling is, geographically. I am kind of picturing it being Britain but I don't think that's right. Is there a passage I missed that talks about this kingdoms location?

Yes Christina. I would like to know more about the Crossing as well.

But he's way older than Kelsea... hmm. I wonder if he's a wizard/magician/what do they call magical people in th..."
Keep reading to learn more about The Fetch. I too would love to see him and Kelsea together. Yes, he is older, but not by much...maybe...

I don't think that will end up being the case.

I don't understand why Emma Watson would agree for a movie on this book. She's huge into women's rights and from what I've read so far, Kelsea kinda just lets her gauss walk all over her.

I don't think that will end up being the case."
I sure hope he doesn't end up being her father!

But he's way older than Kelsea... hmm. I wonder if he's a wizard/magician/what do they call magica..."
He's definitely growing on me!

Ah! Kelsea is going to make an awesome Queen!!!

I started reading it yesterday, and I love it. And yeah, You are a bit right, it's a bit like Throne of glass but, honestly, It's the same genre , so it has to be similar somehow. But I love Kelsea, she's such a amazing character. I am curious what's going to happen next.

SO TRUE. I love how independent she is and how she wanted to gain respect of the guards.

Are you referring to the part where Mace refers to himself and Kelsea as “fey”? Later he explains that it means “seeing your own death and exulting in it.” At the time, I didn’t really take that to mean they were actually fae, but now that I think about it a bit more, perhaps it was a nudge in the right direction. It’d be really cool if they are, anyway!
I’m also really enjoying the relationship building between these two characters; I think they’ll make a great team, and I can’t wait to see them grow.

Those are interesting thoughts. I think Mace's and the guards’ reactions to Kelsea had more to do with the impression her mother made on them, and their wariness that Kelsea would be like her mother as a queen, and less to do with her gender. I think even if she were male, they’d have responded similarly.
I think that Kelsea has been able to prove herself throughout her journey with Mace, and now he’s going to push her to see what she’s made of and bring out her inner strength in order to make her a strong queen. I feel like Mace’s choices and actions have more to do with preparing Kelsea for this new life and responsibility that she’s not familiar with but needs to learn quickly.
So I don’t really see it as a women’s rights issue, and perhaps Emma Watson sees the potential Kelsea has to become a strong, life-changing queen who really comes into her own. (Even if she does make some mistakes along the way.)

If you haven't read page 99 yet DO NOT READ ON.
Fetch has to be Kelsea's father.... Right? Because when Kelsea asked Mace a question about Why her Uncle hates Fetch, Mace said:
"Because he stole one of your uncles favourite women when she went shopping in the city. Then several moths later, your mother announced her pregnancy"

..."
I'm not quite sure about that. Though it certainly is a pretty big hint.
If Fetch was in fact her dad, it's gonna be a little awkward what with all the ships I have sailing right now (and the slight crush she's developing). I really, really hope your wrong :P

If you haven't read page 99 yet DO NOT READ ON..."
haha yeah I ship Kelsea and Fetch too :/ but maybe she just mistaken it as a 'crush'?
It'd be really awkward if Fetch is her father =))

Oh my god, I haven't even noticed it. Woah, and I am not sure what to think about this... But You may be right...
And when it comes to shipping Kelsea and Fetch, I am hesitating too... I don't love them together THAT much.

If you haven't read page 99 yet DO NOT READ ON..."
There's a huge chance that I'm wrong though. I don't think the author would give it away that easily :/. Fetch definitely knows who her father is. :/

This is literally me hehe I've been in a reading slump for like 2 months but doing this readalong is making me fall in love with reading again.
