Yay! So glad you have really gotten into the book!
I agree about Adalie! I was also intrigued and wanted to know all about her.

This was one of my favorite parts as well :^)

I think the Crossing describes humanty going on a new planet and the ships they refer to could be spaceships...maybe? That's the only thing that would explain why they have no contact to the original continents anymore. Meaning the only thing that makes sense in my mind.
Anyway, the characters and writing are marvellous. Also I really appreciate that there's no romance forced on us so far.

I too loved that there was no romance. The story is truly about Kelsea finding her way.

THAT THOUGHT CROSSED MY MIND TOO! Gah I need more info on the crossing.

You all have some interesting theories. They make a lot of sense now that I think about it.

I'm so hoping for a hero's rescue here, but I have a feeling it won't be so easy. Pen and Mace are gonna eat their words.
Also, why the Hell did she cut her hair?? WHY??!!

I really like Kelsea and Andalie with their visions, but I'm also intrigued by the Queen of Mortmesne. I'd love to see more from her point of view, and I'm thinking we'll get a better glimpse in the last section!

This was my favorite part of the the book, too! It showed what a strong person she is. She does make a lot of rash decisions and doesn't always consider the consequences, but that really doesn't bother me. I think it will be important for her overall character arch. Plus she has never had experience leading before, so if she did everything perfectly all the time that wouldn't be very realistic.

Yeah, I thought cutting her hair was a great symbol of the sacrifices she is willing to make in order to do what is best for her people.

I kind of thought this might be the case, too. I hope it turns out that this is what happens, because if not, it is ridiculous that with their level of technology they wouldn't have noticed an uninhabited continent. I don't know if I'm remembering this right, but I thought it might have been implied that the continent sort of appeared in the middle of the ocean one day, but I'm probably wrong about that. I'm looking back and can't find where I thought I read something like that.

That line threw me off at first too, but it is about Kelsea. On page 169 she has to defend herself by killing an attacker during her coronation. "Kelsea whirled to find a sword coming for her neck. She ducked, slid under her attacker's arm, and shoved her knife upward between his ribs. ... The dead man fell on top of her."

The huge problem I have with this book is that it has a lot of characters that I don't find memorable.
