Easy. Cheesy. Predictable but Enjoyable. That is how I found this book. There was definitely to much hype over it on Tik Tok and instagram but I still enjoyed the little story. It was predictable as I found it lacked having the mystery. I could tell who the traitor was from chapter one. And it was an easy read. I don't mind an easy read especially when its a good story. I call cheesy because it was a cheesy hallmark style romance in a fantasy dark novel. I loved it. The only reasons i left it at 3 stars is, 1. Lack of leaving the mystery for a little for the reader. 2. The audiobook narrator was very monotone and lacked emotion. 3. Inwas confused at the end. The king knows the villian so would he not know the villians true name is Tristan? Yet Tristan says the name Tristan and Villian never were matched together. That makes no sense to me. If the king sought out Tristan when he was young, locked him away in fear of the danger Tristan could be, and always come after him. How did he not make the connection? Sorry but that made me wonder. Like I said easy. This easily could be a 9 to 12 year old read. Not even YA. Still was enjoyable. Did I like it? Yes. Did I love it? Not as much as I thought I would. My expectations were different.
