mae | 65 comments Our BOTM theme for June is Who's afraid of little old me?!
(yes I was inspired by Taylor Swift), I will make a poll with the top suggestions during the last week of May! please only suggest books that you think fit this category, whether the song, vibe, the words, or just your interpretation!🤍

message 2: by ଘRory (new)

ଘRory what about ACOTAR ?

message 3: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn D'Errico | 45 comments I think Kotlc would fit

message 4: by mae (new)

mae | 65 comments Yep! All of those sound awesome!

message 5: by kat (new)

kat the downstairs girl by Stacey lee
It's a historical fiction about a girl who writes for a newspaper using a pseudonym
the column that she writes for becomes popular and she starts to address different problems in society
people try to figure out who she is and she has to decide if she's ready to step into the spotlight

message 6: by kat (new)

kat I think it would work pretty well because people underestimate the MC due to her low social standing and gender
no one (as far as I'm aware) guesses that she could be the one writing the articles
it also isn't very popular (it was Reese's bookclubs YA pick but I haven't Heard much of it other than that)

message 12: by Maya (new)

Maya Daisy (semi hiatus bc of this lil thing called lif | 2 comments Shatter Me bc 'who's afraid of little old me' definitely fits for Juliette

message 13: by Camille (new)

Camille | 4 comments Ok I completely agree with Shatter me but also throne of glass would work

message 14: by rae (new)

rae Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I know this isn't really BookTok, but it's easy to read, it's amazing, and definitely got that "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me" feel. And I feel maybe we should read something not as hyped up everywhere.

message 15: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (Wes Bennett and Adam Carlsen’s version) (lizzy-wesbennettsversion) | 4 comments Red Rising by Pierce Brown because I believe that Darrow, the main character of the book, shows, throughout the story, that he should be feared and not the one afraid….idk I just feel like it fits him since there’s also the dynamic that people of his “faction”, the Reds, are “little” and less powerful compared to the Golds…except he is proof that they aren’t so “little” after all, if that makes sense.

Yes @SRT that would be sooo nice because I have read most of the booktok books that seem interesting to me soo it would be nice for some newer books; skyward is pretty good but I read it when it first came out so I’d be up for a reread

message 17: by Ryebread (new)

Ryebread The Cruel Prince, Jude whole character embodies the song.

"Instead of being afraid, I could become something to fear."

"If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse."

ilovevashti Fledgling - Octavia Butler . A book about a very strong, very smart, seemingly little girl.

Niamh x | 3 comments ✨TOG
✨SPARK OF THE EVERFLAME
✨ FEAR THE FLAMES
✨ AN EMBER IN THE ASHES

these give me such “who’s afraid of little old me” vibes. The underestimated girl who is more than anyone would expect.

message 22: by RitaB. (new)

RitaB. | 9 comments the Queen's Gambit. Although not fantasy, a very good story about a chess prodigy finding her way in a man's world while learning about herself along the way.

message 23: by ✨Kenzie✨ (new)

✨Kenzie✨ | 2 comments AGGGTM? since the tv show is coming out july 1st

message 24: by Kendall (new)

Ok I just got another book and it seems it would fit the prompt, I’m not totally sure though. It’s called the will of the many.
