this is what i use, just type in the brand, and it'll give you the answer! it also includes alternatives to those israel-supporting brands, and gives you others which are neutral or support palestine so you can purchase from them.

BTW since we're all readers, one publishing company that we need to stay away from is the Saint Martins Press. They actively support Israel and they are very Islamaphobic and racist. Ik its hard since they published SO MANY GOOD BOOKS but we have to try to not buy from them, and if you'd like to, not review their books.

Could you name some of the authors that associate with that publishing company?

From what I looked up (Can be wrong) Some authors are Rebecca Ross, Emily Henry and Kathrine Center.

OKAY SO BASICALLY ABOUT THE SMP BOYCOTT!! it's all bc one of their marketing employees was posting very islamophobic and zionist propaganda on their social media and readers were like "hey thats rlly weird can smp speak up abt this bc muslim and readers of color feel rlly unsafe" but smp was completely silent and basically saying we don't care SO a bunch of readers came together and said "until smp can get their shit tg and denounce this kind of hate we're not going to market their books."

so that means NO promoting, posting updates, reviews, anything on books from smp imprints (including wednesday books, st martin's griffin, castle point books, minotaur books, and st martin's essentials) on any kind of social media!! this also is not abt the authors as some of them ARE pro palestine like rebecca ross, it's just their publisher we have a problem with.

the ppl advocating for this are a collective called readers 4 accountability n have a site called r4acollective.org, and they also have insta and tiktok accounts under the same name ! pls share this bc ppl r still posting abt smp books but there is STILL a boycott going on!! this also isnt a buying boycott, just a marketing one, meaning you can buy the books just not promote them, but many people are deciding to turn to one bc their disappointment in smp's silence is js so great.

i have a shelf on my profile of the books we should boycott if u need to keep track of the specific ones, and i'll always be updating it if u need me to!! i rlly hope this helped bc i hate seeing misinformation and i rlly want yall to be educated on these types of things !! 🫶🏾

asiya, hmm there probably are some like the european/non us versions of the books that are published in diff countries under diff publishers!! u can find them if u go to the book's goodreads page n then click "show all editions" !! <3

but i'd say ur best bet is to buy used/from thrift bookstores bc that gives u the most chance of not giving the publisher any of ur money :)

i would say go to thrift stores <3 they can be daunting at first but u rlly can find the cutest stuff there once u look and it helps the environment and combat consumerism :))

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but the app "no thanks" is a really great way to quickly scan an item and see if it's on the boycott list. This app also give you the facts, where it found the information that the company is supporting genocide. I find it really helpful when in a rush and just generally.
