Kill for Me, Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh Kill for Me Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh Kill for Me, Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh

Summary

One dark evening on New York City’s Upper West Side, two strangers meet by chance. Over drinks, Amanda and Wendy realize they have much in common, especially loneliness and an intense desire for revenge against the men who destroyed their families. As they talk into the night, they come up with the perfect if you kill for me, I’ll kill for you.

In another part of the city, Ruth is home alone when the beautiful brownstone she shares with her husband, Scott, is invaded. She’s attacked by a man with piercing blue eyes, who disappears into the night. Will she ever be able to feel safe again while the blue-eyed stranger is out there?

Chuyita | 4 comments Good morning Fellow Readers!

Happy 1st of September. Fall is here and so are cozy pjs, fuzzy socks, sizzling fireplace, and a nice cup of coffee/glass of wine!

This month we will be discussing Kill for Me, Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh. I am only 14% in and I am already hooked! I’m so excited to share our thoughts as we read.

Let me leave you a little excerpt from the book to tempt you …. just in case you haven’t already!

The Kitchen floor was covered with glass. She looked around, then saw that a pane had been smashed in the back door. The small one just above the door handle. The rest of the panes in the grid were intact. Then, in one of those panes, Ruth caught a reflection. A man, tall, dark clothing. Fierce blue eyes, a long narrow nose and square jaw.

He was right behind her.

An arm clamped around her throat and a hand stifled her scream. There was something in that hand. Something soft. It smelled bad. A chemical odour. Ruth fell to the floor, her knees giving way. Her vision swam, and then she heard his voice. Deep, crackling in a long, thick throat. Raspy and broken and utterly, utterly terrifying.

Hello there, sweetheart . .

And the darkness took her.

Chuyita | 4 comments I am still waiting for more at the end. There is a loose thread I am not happy about. I enjoyed reading this book from the start. It was such a rollercoaster- a twist here, a twist there and a twist all around! Grief can be hard to deal with. Cavanagh made me question things. 🤔 I was rooting for them like I did for Dexter 😬 I am looking forward to reading Thirteen next.

Chuyita | 4 comments Happy Wednesday readers! Have you been reading this book? How are you liking it?

Sandysbookaday (taking a midwinter break) (sandyj21) | 2209 comments 'Kill For Me, Kill For You' isn't your average crime/detective/serial killer thriller. Actually, I don't think Steve Cavanagh could write an average book if he tried! Think Strangers on a Train on steroids. And the book Strangers on a Train gets frequent mentions throughout.

Every time I thought I knew where Cavanagh was taking me, every time I started to feel complacent or a little smug, he would throw in a twist so that everything I thought I knew became irrelevant.

Cavanagh has penned characters that it is hard not to feel empathy with and built the story around a moral dilemma. Who, having lost a child and/or spouse to violence for which no one is held accountable, is not going to want revenge. The question is: where does it stop?

I suggest going into this read, blind. It is twisty, tormenting, and will tear your moral compass in two.
