The Devil in Montmartre: A Mystery in Fin de Siècle Paris - Gary Inbinder

This book takes place in 1889 Paris, featuring landmarks like the Moulin Rouge and figures like Toulouse Lautrec, I think it tried a little too hard to drop famous names but it did evoke a sense of time and place. The mystery was rather convoluted and the atmosphere one of noir. So it was ok, but I probably won’t read more by this author.

I read a lot of mysteries but not bavck to back like this month. I found myself getting confused, like “oh, a mallet was found in a suspect’s room, the victim was killed with a blunt instrument “ but the remembering that victim was in the previous book.
