Historical Romance Book Club discussion

This book is driving me bonkers - We lost it when we moved house - Think Female lead is called Anna or Hannah? pretty sure chap is called Bennett - she Had Auburn (redish) hair I am sure and always wore it in a certain way to cover a scar on her forhead. She always wore white and had a ladies type shop with all white ladies things like linens etc. She is there first and Chap moves into the shop next door and I am sure he sold furniture - she finds him charming. Both live in flats/apartments above the shops. He convinces her into a relationship - she is very wary due to having been SA as a child and was found wandering in the street with a head injury afterwards little memory of it but obviously wary of men - he promises to walk her through it. various smut - they have a falling out and break up but he saves her at the end from the attacker from when she was a child - he sees her and thinking she will recognise him tries to finishe her off and he saves her. It is set in the USA not new york I think maybe Boston? but not sure. Also her parents try and treat her like a damaged doll which she can't stand and tries to make her move home as they can't see any man wanting her - well meaning but insensative. Various children she sits and chats with . Think the cover was white and cream - ring any bells? - also read it in the early 90's but bought second hand.
