In this book, Emma Djan newly fired from the police because of the behaviour of one of her superiors towards her, is working as a private investigator to try to find out what has happened to an American man who has gone missing having travelled to Ghana to meet a woman he got to know on the internet. I thought that this was quite a complex mystery that took you in different directions, though I did like that all of the plot points were resolved by the end of the book, albeit some were a bit abrupt. Having met Emma at what must have been the lowest point of her life, it was good to see that she did gain in confidence by the end. Not all of the characters were developed fully enough, and at times there were so many that I struggled to keep track of them.
