Ashley Todd | 45 comments I enjoyed this so much more than Emma. I'd already seen the movies of Emma and Sense and Sensibility but not this one, so it was fresh for me. If I had read Emma before watching the movie, I think I would have liked it better. That's why I haven't attempted reading S&S just yet...

I counted this for a few categories: classic romance, a funny book, a book set somewhere I've always wanted to visit, a book with a love triangle, and a book that's more than 100 years old, and a book that's been turned into a TV show (miniseries).

That's a lot of categories! I'm going to put this into the classic romance category since you listed it first. :-)

Hey Ashley, I know what you mean. I just went through all Jane Austen novels and if you have seen the Gwyneth Paltrow version of Emma the book is pretty much the same.
S&S is different as there is actually quite a bit in the book you wouldn't find in the movie adaptations... Try it ;)

Rosemary Markham I haven't read the for long time, but I have watch several versions of the movies several times. The version where Colin Firth plays Darcy is my favorite. It is easy to see where this is my favorite romance of all time. I was thinking about it the other day and the reason I like it so much it because there are strong male and female leading roles and that they both are willing to change.

Natália Lopes (silkcaramel) I love this book and am always picking it up to read again and have watched several movie adaptations as well. It's a true classic and Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors. I chose Emma for my 'classic book' category since I have seen the movie but haven't read the book.

Anne Yess, I love Pride and prejudice :-) And yess x2, the BBC-series with Colin Firth is by far the best tv adaptation in my opinion...
