Welcome to June Buddy Picks

If you wish to have a buddy choose a book from your SBC bookshelf, please comment below with the amount of books you wish to have picked out for you.

I will pair you with your Buddy using Random.org on May 31st if enough have signed up by then.

Me for one book

Me for 1 book please! 🤗💕

Hi Sharon, thanks for organising and hope the PT/rehab is going well. I’d like to sign up for one book this month.

I'm recovering well. It’s amazing what you take for granted, then all of a sudden can’t do them. Accomplishments:
1. Feeding myself with my left hand using a fork
2. Curling my hair
3. Putting on a “real” bra
4. Going from 1.5 hours of sleep to 5 hours of sleep at a time.
5. Getting off pain meds three weeks after surgery to put in 2 plates and 10 screws
6. Cross stitching with my left hand (only a couple hours at a time before my hand spasms)
7. Reading 15 books so far! Lots of time when you wake up and can’t go back to sleep!

One book this month


Sharon, remember, you have a fantastic reason to sit and enjoy reading without feeling guilty.

Wow, some amazing accomplishments there Sharon and a reminder for all of us to cherish our health. I'm having surgery in 2 weeks so I'll be hoping for a similar and successful path to recovery.

Agree with everyone - any small accomplishment is reason to celebrate! Healing takes time; relax and let your body repair itself… reading all of those books… yay!!

Awesome, thanks so much for choosing this one for me Sharon. It was chosen by Jenny back in April, but has only JUST come into the library today. I'll be picking it up on Sunday and it'd be great to read it together. I'll let you know when I plan on starting it.

Hi Jenny, I'm sending you back in time to the turn of the millennium with The Book of Souls (Inspector Mclean Mystery 2) by Oswald, James (2013) Paperback by James Oswald. It's about an antiquarian book dealer and has an antiquarian bookshop so fingers crossed it's as dark and foreboding as the cover suggests!

Brilliant! I'm halfway through and loving it so far! My prediction is that Frederick is the one still living in the Hall. (No spoilers though).
