We all love Murderbot, the SecUnit who cares more than it wants to admit. I have new books in this popular series, but I’d forgotten too many key points and characters from the beginning, so I’m starting over. I enjoyed this book just as much the second time around.
In the first episode, the SecUnit robot supplied to a group of scientists turns out to be a little more human than they expected. Part android, part human, it calls itself Murderbot. It hacked its own control module to keep anyone from programming it to kill again. When things start to go wrong on the secluded planet, it suspects sabotage, and helps to protect the humans. I really enjoyed the part where it inadvertently showed its emotions when interacting humans without the protection of its armor and face shield. It’s cute that in this space opera, the main character loves to watch space operas.
