Cindy | 3 comments I feel like I am always seeing the same books being recommended and wanted to get some fresh ideas. What's your favorite not-that-popular book that you absolutely love and wish other people knew about?

✨bethany✨ | 18 comments Ooooh definitely The Ragnarok Era series and the Tapestry of Fate series by Matt Larkin. They’re epic fantasy retellings of Norse and Greek myth that reference so many details from classic literature and are so captivating to read. They’re absolutely brilliant and I’ll always recommend them☺️

I feel like i don't see this one talked about enough (but maybe that's because I got to it late)... The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...)

Loved so much of this one and the trilogy.

Andrea | 24 comments Cashelmara and Penmarric by Susan Howatch (her Wheel of Fortune was very good, but not life changing). Both of these books unleashed my full love of reading - and rereading for the first time ever. There is love, unrequited love, revenge, betrayal, wealth, poverty; and pretty much every single human emotion known to man. One is set in Ireland, one in England, but other than being very descriptive of the landscape it matters little. You want the MMC and FMC to be together so bad it positively hurts. To see what their next generation(s) go through, the sins of the fathers (and mothers) so to speak, keeps the pages turning rapidly. I love the current fantasy romance, world building stuff - but these novels will truly have you go back every few years. Now I feel old and mushy. Read young people! Your life will be altered.

Amanda | 50 comments I’ve been trying to find lesser known/new authors series, and I found this one on Kindle Unlimited that I absolutely love!

The Archmage (Mages of Might Series) by Emily L.K. Is a Hidden Gem for me. I really loved this book and it was refreshingly different and fast-paced.

The book centers around Mages, with both illusionist and elemental magic. There are different levels of mastery you can level up to by dueling with other competitors.

I loved the sequel too and I think the third book is coming out this year!

hails | 7 comments Bright Star by Erin Swan, read it about 2 years ago so I might have changed my mind, but I remember loving it!!!!
Sadie by Courtney Summers
Also, Bonesmith by Nicki Pau Preto was SO GOOD, I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy.

Thenerdypsych (drbrothers) | 5 comments Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole. It's starting to pick up some traction but has been one of my favourites since finishing all things SJM. Also Stacia Stark's Kingdom of Lies series is spectacular and the final book just came out a few weeks ago. I read that whole 4-book series in a week!

message 11: by Stace (new)

Stace | 13 comments Plated prisoner series is one of my favourites, but because the 1st book has dark themes it is not an easy read for some.

If you can persevere through the 1st book it gets so much better. It has great character development in my opinion, lots of romance 🔥 and I liked the world building too. Last book in series comes out in autumn so I cannot wait. 🥳

I am currently reading kingdom of lies series by Stacia Stark and TOTALLY loving it 😍

I just read the first book and agree with this opinion. So I am looking forward to continuing the series

Thanks for starting this thread! I read a great book this summer and I'd like as many people as possible to know about it, as I'd like to talk to other fans about it.
It's Chimeras of Estmer. It's similar to epic books like ASOIAF in that it has a complex plot, great worldbuilding and many POVs. But it also has a lot of humor, a bit of romance and is quite fast paced. So I would describe it as a "very light version of very epic fantasy".
There's another great book that, for some unknown reason, doesn't seem to be popular. It's Silver Hands, a wonderful mix of historical romance and fantasy. I read it quite a while ago, in 2018, and I don't see it becoming more popular since then, and I don't understand why that is. It is a great book!
So I recommend these books to anyone who wants to read something different from the books everyone recommends to each other. Even though they don't seem to be very popular, some people have left reviews and you can read them to see if you should read these books.

message 25: by Lilia (new)

Lilia | 3 comments Currently reading ‘When the moon hatched’ by Sarah A Parker, and I’m feeling similar feels I had when I was reading throne of glass… I can really recommend it, I’ve also seen it a few times on booktok, I think it’s not become massively popular yet since it was released this year, but it’s really good!

message 26: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Marie | 1 comments Honestly, I feel like the Emily Wilde’s series isn’t talked about enough- it’s so stinking cute and it’s structure is different since she’s studying the fae and is logging all her information in a journal (there’s even little footnotes referencing other works to make it feel scholarly). Plus, the third book in the series is releasing in February!

Lily🥀 -Semi-hiatus- (lily-semihaitus-) | 2 comments definitely The Bird and the Blade by Megan Bannen

message 28: by Ash (new)

Ash Rose | 1 comments Bend her by Cassie Alexander

Dark magical sexy fantasy book * chef’s kiss *

The book is listed as a dark beauty and the beast but it’s very loosely comparable. A princess who is kept by a Beast mage wants to learn magic and be free from her life all while a magical war is being fought. The series has plenty of magic, fighting, and steamy pages in between. It is a slow burn and has more bdsm for the adult pages. Fair warning if you don’t like bdsm it can be cringy but not too much cringier than some of the ACTAR chapters. Hope this helps!
