Markus Schmidt | 10 comments I also just finished the first 2 episodes and I love it!!
it's so different but it has all the Star Wars vibes and it triggers my "High Republic" brain really hard :D

I'm also interested in the story and where this is going!
And I can't wait to see more of Vernestra :D

Katherine Utsumi | 1 comments Finally watched episode 1 and 2 last night. Love it so far.

message 4: by Darlene (new)

Darlene | 22 comments I watched them. One thing that I guess is new canon is that a Jedi isn't supposed to whip out their lightsaber unless they plan to kill someone (or is it unless they plan to use it)? I've always thought Jedi's use their lightsabers for defense.

message 5: by CoolBro86 (new)

CoolBro86 So my other comment was deleted on the topic, but I personally thought the Acolyte first 2 episodes were ok but not the best. Like the beginning fight scene in episode 1 should have been longer, it’s not that easy to kill a Jedi. And the rocks in the cave in episode 2 on the ice planet looked fake. And the script is AI generated I can tell, since I use AI for homework and it is definitely AI generated. The writing could be way better. But that’s just my opinion, I respect everyone’s opinions on The Acolyte

message 6: by CoolBro86 (new)

CoolBro86 Darlene yes you are correct, the Jedi use their weapon for defense, but for some reason Disney doesn’t know that. The Jedi in the beginning had all the reason to use her lightsaber.

message 7: by Markus (new)

Markus Schmidt | 10 comments @coolbro86
yes I was also surprised at the beginning on how "easy" it was to kill a Jedi but The High Republic books showed us that it's not uncommon that Jedis die. sooooo I can kinda understand.
I think we also have to keep in mind that at this time the Jedi were the protectors of peace while there was nothing "major bad" happening for a while...so maybe they were "surprised"??
I'm just interested in where this is going and who this master is :D

amanda ❀ (jedipanda) | 0 comments I really enjoyed the first two episodes! Can’t wait to see how the plot plays out :3 I am also very new to the High Republic Era so this is peaking my curiosity, which is why now I’m reading my first book in this era: Light of the Jedi. Excited to do so!

message 9: by Robert (new)

Robert | 27 comments I’m willing to believe the series is playing a long game and the story will turn out to be more compelling than a soap operatic tale of long separated twins on diverging life paths.

message 10: by EleeGirl (new)

EleeGirl I personally don’t love the High Republic Era that much, so I don’t think I’ll be watching it. Maybe someday

message 11: by Leensey (new)

Leensey | 6 comments really sorry to hear that EleeGirl! meanwhile, my love for the era makes me optimistic for the show, even tho so far it has actually been rather middling.

so i'm in the same boat as you, Robert. i'm trying to be patient as they unveil the mystery and i hope it will be worth it.

New episode tonight should help!

I never watched Russian Doll but it got a lot of very positive press, here's hoping this talented writer/director can bring the series home.

Glad you're enjoying it! I'm so curious to learn more about the (aptly named) Stranger...

Mike Delacard | 4 comments Can't wait for the final episode--I am a big fan of The High Republic and love this bridge between this era and the Fall of the Jedi era. Looking forward to the twist(s) ahead and especially a second season as promised by Headland!

message 17: by Gabe (new)

Gabe Stroup | 2 comments I’ve been finding the series fun and exciting, especially all the high republic call backs. Seeing the inner workings and reasonings behind the fall of the Jedi, it’s well done! I do have one gripe and that’s how they’re gonna wrap this up! I just don’t see how in one episode they can end this season. Nonetheless, I’m excited to see what’s coming!

I agree, it is a lot to wrap up in just 44 minutes--I am excited but also nervous because of that. But I have faith in Headland's talent so I am more excited than not for the exciting conclusion to this first season!

Is that the actual runtime of the final episode? I've noticed 1-7 have all had different lengths, though generally between the 30-40 minute range.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I absolutely agree that 1 episode left is wild and we need at leady 10 episodes of good shows like this!!! But wow!! What they pack in these small seasons! So excited for the last episode tonight!!! Working on a podcast episode about it!! 🖤💙

Gabe Stroup | 2 comments Just finished the last episode, I’m super curious what everyone thinks?!?? I would rate it a solid 7/10, I think they wrapped it up very well and tied up what they needed to, and PLAGUIES. They definitely played us with only a 5 second cameo but I love it, although I’ve seen a lot of mixed feelings about it.

I will say the choreography of this show was perfect. The combat was some of the best I’ve seen since the prequels and hopefully sets a new standard. Hopefully we get a season two!

message 22: by Darlene (new)

Darlene | 22 comments I was a bit disappointed as I felt they changed some previously-known characterisitics of the Jedi. Also, they retconned Anakin's birth as well as the parts about the sith. However, I didn't dislike it as much as some of the critics had, and I would be open to watching a second season.

message 23: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Kupferman | 2 comments The Jedi never found out so to them Anakin was the first

I thought it was a great episode and series overall--very enjoyable and fun to watch. It also gave us so much more lore in live action, like actually seeing the bleeding of a kyber crystal as it happens in real time! Also very excited to see so many wonderful aspects of the EU/Legends novel "Darth Plagueis" become canon in live action as well.
