Ellen | 3515 comments Biologist Inti Flynn has arrived in Scotland to reintroduce a pack of wolves into the wilderness. She has also brought her twin sister Aggie, a woman who suffered severe trauma when the two lived in Alaska. Aggie has become a virtual shut-in, barely communicating with Inti with their own version of sign language. The local farmers are not keen on having wolves brought back to their area, fearing for their flocks of sheep and herds of cows. Inti promises that the wolves won't disturb domestic animals and that she will step in if that should ever happen. After a local farmer is killed and Inti stumbles across the body, she decides to bury him knowing suspicion will fall on the wolves. Inti knows a human committed the act and fears that it may have been the local chief of police, a man she has begun to care for deeply.

This is an interesting story of the environment and animal life. I certainly learned a lot about wolves and their habits. The setting is wonderfully appealing and Inti makes for a spirited heroine. The audio was quite well done.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11084 comments I’m so glad you liked this book. I always learn so much from this author, and the stories stay with me. I would reread this book if I had time. I already preordered the audio of her next book.

Did you read Happiness by Aminatta Forna? One of the main characters does similar work in New England and in London (with coyotes and foxes I think).

Ellen | 3515 comments No, I haven't read that but I think I will. Thanks Nancy!
